Fire off 20 of your pistol bullets. You should then be able to bunnyhop consistently with the knife out, or inconsistently with the pistol out. Don't have the LMG out; it decreases your speed too much. Also, don't bother emptying your LMG. Its ammunition has no effect on your speed until you get more than about 200 bullets.

Either that is staying in the game because of what they call balance, or they can't find a workaround with the HL engine.
i will definately try that a civilian, thanks again for the info. Im just confused because in classic if the comm drops me a cat pack i can bhop no problem, regardless of my pistol ammo. ill post a demo showing my feeble attempts at half life air accelleration and you guys can point out what im doing wrong.
Hey swift idiot. Marines dont need catpacks to bunnyhop. They can do it normally. Whenever the ground beneath you changes in elevation upwards you can bhop. For example, marines can bhop up slopes, or from the ground to railing.
I did not know that ammo count actually affected your speed.
Sheesh... what a disgrace. Been playing this long and don't think that?
Somone slap me around a bit... well.. it is 3am. I need a good slapping to stay awake <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
This just made cats a bit less useless. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I've been playing till version 1.0 and didnt know ammo effected your speed, i always assumed it was a rumour... mustnt effect it much i guess <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Hahaha meatshield, look at the time tag on when I posted that. You expect me to be courteous after a hard friday night of pubbing? The forums are lucky I don't type as loud as my avatar would suggest. Nem0 probably got tired of watching me like a hawk. Now I just meta-troll.
Yeah guys, ammo has a fractional impact on how fast you go. I know I feel like a slug when I have 250 from accidentally picking up some newb's dropped ammo. Same with the fully loaded shotgun and GL. You slow down pretty noticably with that stuff, assuming you're just a straight-line walker and don't wigglewalk or railing bhop like the rest of us.
It also used to have a big effect on your JP speed. If you dropped your guns, you'd have a 1.04 JP. You'd go straight up like a hot air balloon.
Way to pay attention when little pieces of critical information get name-dropped in casual forum conversation. :o That's how it gets done around here. Manuals? Knowledge bases? Pfft, we're hardcore, we learn this game by sorting rumor from fact!
Listen harder for the little kernals of useful NS psuedo-trivia to pop out. Why do you think I'm so p!ssed that this marine catpack bhop hasn't been talked about before now in a big forum topic. I know someone somewhere discovered this probably months ago and there's a General Forum post ONLY JUST NOW? Come on people, don't do that.

I prefer to think of it as "remastering".

Use up some ammo or drop some weapons if you want to bunnyhop with catalysts.
