<div class="IPBDescription">Solution to the problem of "HMG plz."</div> I played on a server called "The Spirit Realm" today, where I'm pretty sure the entire marine team was a bunch of bots. The map was NS_NANCY.
- There were 2 marines just sort of chilling in the ReadyRoom when I joined the map. Weren't talking, just waiting. I guess the marines were bots who were waiting to join the marine team. One of them kept going over to the JOIN MARINES door, and when it didn't work, walking back to the center of the room.
- I don't care how fast you are, what species you are. They could hit you with an LMG 100% of the time.
- Nobody on the other team ever said anything publicly. Ever. I'd go "You guys are bots, right?" and they wouldn't say anything.
- Their aim was perfect, but their manuvers weren't. I dashed past them and ate their turret factories like 20 times. One time, I made it into their spawn room.
There was a guy in heavy armor standing guard. I ducked behind a spawn portal and started to feast. I expected him to come over and shotgun me the way marines are wont to do when I slip past their turrets and start eating things, but this guy didn't. He just wandered around building things he had been told to build. Surprised, I finished my meal and ducked behind some other objects to see if he would leave me alone. And he did! I ate their experimental weapons lab, then their arms lab, and until this last one was gone, he didn't see me, so he didn't attack me. A human player would have heard me chomping away and put a bullet in my brain ASAP. Stupid bots... When I came back, the samr armored marine was putting up turrets within their base. I guess the slodiers were bots but the commander was a human, and he'd just learned from his mistakes. In a way, I'm glad I could teach him something.
The marines were really kicking our assets, one hive was gone when I joined and another one fell as I was playing. When I think about it, this is a really good way to practice being a commander, but it sucked trying to join, and finding out that you were stuck on the alien team while the marines were invincible snipers of death. I'm sure if I had somehow slipped into the JOIN MARINES door when a spot on their team opened up, the guy in the commander's chair would have ejected me from the server.
I wouldn't mind helping him test his damn bots, if he would just say something about it when we joined. Or when we accused him or running bots. Or when I started telling him all the things wrong with his bots. But no, they all stayed silent, and just kept right on never missing or firing blindly or bunny-hopping or any of the stuff a human player would do. It annoyed me, knowing I was bot-fodder, because I just <i>wanted to play a decent game,</i> you know? Not be pigeon-holed into the alien team and then used for target practice by a computer.

The sad part is, I really envy that commander, and I can see this becoming a regular thing, because <i>unlike human players, bots actually LISTEN to you. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> </i> And I know damn well he didn't program them with chat-bots to say "HMG plz" to him every 30 seconds. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
I weep for the future. Okay, guys, I'm ready to join a clan now. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> Organized play is the only way I'm ever going to enjoy this game ever again, isn't it?
God, I hate Other People. <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> The worst part about online games is that you have to play them with other people. And yes, I realize that that conflicts with what I said about bots being evil. -.-
[EDIT: Looks like they weren't bots; see below. Expletives and insults towards the enemy commander removed from original post since I now realize he wasn't dicking around with me via invincible bots, but just led a really good team.]

haha, I think I was there too. Except I was a marine (nxhl). I thought you were joking with the whole bot thing. I know at least a few other marines were real people, but I don't remember enough to vouch for the whole team. Also, some people are ignorant, and some people play with no sound, so just because they don't hear you two feet away doesn't instantly mean they're a bot.
I've been playing on that server like all day, and I didn't notice anyone acting bot-like. So, I don't know.
Ehh, no. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
The players really gave a bot-like impression at the time, though. O.o
Hey that reminds me, what ever happened to "overwatch mode?" Did that ever make it into the mod? If so, I think overwatch should automatically kick in when you're typing stuff.
More like the human players on that server failed it. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
1. they dont know how to talk using the default say command 'y'
2. they probably failed to identfy ur biting sound, thinking that it's a background sound or something
3. might thinks that they have better things to do than to defend the base...
