No, I'm not talking fan-made...
... I'm talking 20th Century Fox-style sci-fi movies..
It would be a good idea, after all, I dont think theres been a movie involving Aliens vs Marines with building and strategical battling over sci-fi environments.
It could show the side of the marines, and when they encounter buildings, they have to quickly figure out what it does..
Just an idea, don't flame..

I don't know...I wouldn't pay to watch some rines build things and place mines. Maybe if it only showed the fighting aspect, but again, it falls into the same niche as the Alien franchise.
I would LOVE to see a Starcraft movie, in fact. I would kill you all just to see a preview. Not that I don't like you guys or anything.
edit: damnit, beaten. :/
Imagine... the Aliens saga except with JP's
Wasn't there one exception to that rule? I can't remeber it's name...

Come to think of it, one did stand out, but I can't remember what it was called either.

I think neither of you can remember because there wasn't one.

That didn't stand out, as it was a television mini-series. And yes, I am going for biggest quote pyramid EVER!
uh, spiderman and spiderman 2
DONT OPEN THAT DOOR!
*chuckle*
well yes, nice movie, but its:
A: originally not a computergame to begin with, but a comic adaption...
B: Boring as hell. Its not a good movie. It lacks story, atmosphere, characters and ....well.... thrill.
The LOTR movies sucked? Are you crazy?
Well this is off topic. besides, he was takling about the LOTR games i think, as the movies were made first.....
I myself was kind of disappointed with the movies, because they lacked....spirit.... on very many occasions. They were made too early IMHO, as the trend of extensive CGI support in moviemaking really harms any good picture. In almost every large scale hollywood movie of the last 6 years, the post production was the most important part of the Film, not the actual shooting. The Actors have become less important, sets are implemented later and if the actor does not manage to look impressive, you just put some nifty lumination effects in.
I would not go so far to say the sucked howerver. Thats reserverd for Star Wars ep 1-3 ( I know... I havent seen ep 3 yet. Im just guessing)

Thou shall not make a movie out of a video game and make another video game based on the movie about the video game.
Street Fighter: The movie video game sucked. >_>
Kerrigan as Sauron, Frodo as Raynor, you get the idea. >_>
Like the war scenes in LOTR. All the shooting, bullets wizzing by (At hypersonic speed, so says the Starcraft manual.), explosions, nuclear blasts, siege blasts, air battles. The the protoss show up and unleash hell on the war at hand.
(fade spike impailing people though the head, screaming & dying, skulks and lerk ripping peoples heads off, OC chamber ripping people's quivering hearts out, etc. Trust me I can freak you out and make you cry.)
I don't think a NS movie would really work out. A NS novel penned by Jeff - maybe. But a movie would, as was already noted, just intrude too heavily into already set claims (though it'd be nice to see another good dark sci-fi movie sometime soon).
Re: Post-production in movies: As with everything else, it's a tool, not more, not less. Case in point: Check the trailer for Mirrormask and tell me it does not look jaw-dropping.
