was just wondering is there ANYWAY at all i could change them to be a bit smaller,

as the HMG warspike model goes from what 55-70k up to 1.3meg or something

my friends say thats why my fps has gone to **** <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

so was just wondering because i really love the custom models and wish to keep using them but hopefully somehow make file size smaller so runs smoother

if not ah wells <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    i dont think its the model size out of game which will reduce your fps, its the number of pollies on the model itsself.

    or something like that.

    usually a large model out of game means that it either has a lot of pollies, or someones done something wrong <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Actualy the file size of a model COULD slow down your computer if you have a small ammount of memory.

    You could try using the trial of Milkshape and learning basic modelling, some models can be fairly radically optimised. One easy route is to remove any polies that you won't see in first person, and another is to remove poly detail and replace it with texture detail.

    As for the file size, that's most likely several high-res texture maps, these don't much affect your ingame fps though, just slow the loading process.
