I was also able to do this yesterday with a Fade. It happened completely by accident. I accidentally alt-tabbed out (not exactly the smartest idea to use my left-alt as my voice com key I suppose), so I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. I don't really remember any other unique circumstances at the time.

At first I think it's just a glitch in the rendering of my two claws, and that in the game I'm actually visible. Then I make the mistake of rounding a corner and seeing three marines in HA with HMGs. Two of them are looking right at me. Then they turn around and go about working on some turrets.

I take a few steps closer, intrigued... I'm well within turret range, but they're just ignoring me. I spend a few moments just walking around the marines and the turrets, utterly facinated.

Alas, I succumed to the horrible temptation.

I hit my chuckle key in the pop-up menu.

Moments later there were three very dead, very confused former HA/HMG wielding marines spamming chat with: WTF?!?!?!

I haven't tried to reproduce it, I don't know if I could if I tried, but it's only happened once to me, and I have absolutely no idea why.

    Dont reproduce it...

Its like the guy the other day on the alien team saying.. if we go to the ready room.. and come back.. our team gets more rps!...

Dont exploit bugs people.. it ruins the fun.

I would love for that to happen to me just once just to hear them freak out when i tear a whole marine squad apart and they can't even find me. ^_^

I had a similar experience with cloaking not turning off as a fade. I have no idea what caused it exactly, but just after the marines took dest’ed our last hive, I noticed that I wasn’t uncloaking when I moved. Figuring that I had my hive sight turned on, I decided to ambush the marines in our hive area and go out in a blaze of glory.

Much to my surprise, not only did the marines not kill me but also the turrets didn’t fire on me either. Given that I was the last alien and I didn’t have the RP to morph, and create a new res tower, I just played around with it a little until I told a marine where to fire so the round would end. Freakiest thing in the world staying cloaked like that and being able to attack…

I guess you lost the hive with the sensory chambers and you lost all the sensory chambers so your cloak got stuck on you. I want to be permantly invisible once just once to see what its like.

    It's very lame.

But it's also very freakin' cool.

Ah .. I see the strat ... build three sensory chambers in a hive, leave it undefended. One skulk sits there .. the marines walk in, the skulk signals "Everybody cloak!", then, as the marines kill the sensor towers and the hive, it chuckles ... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Evil thoughts are running through my head! I think when a marine attacks the sensory chambers the aliens flashes and becomes 100% visable, I don't know for how long but even a few quick flashes everytime they do X ammount of damage to it. Everytime it hits would mostlikely make a lot of lag if every alien has it or even just a few because all those signals of flash, flash, flash flash... That would just overpopulate the amount of signals and everyone would have a beastly lag.

Well reproducing it wouldn't be as easy as thought unless you build the chambers and a few turrets right outside the enemy base, oh the fun!

i saw this last night. several of us on the Alien team watched him flap around the room as a lerk, moving around and in between the 4 or 5 marines that had occupied and destroyed our last hive, as we waited for the game to end, wondering why he was still cloaked even while moving around the room and attacking.

the kicker is that the guy doing it let on that it was definitely not an accident, and was in fact quite intentional. when questioned about it, he even said something to the effect of "it's not really a cheat ... rather, it's an exploit" (yah, whatever!) when asked how exactly he had done it, he declined to give specifics, saying he did not want his "secret" to get out.

and so begins the never-ending battle of just trying to keep the game honest and fun. Chalk up one more pathetic loser amongst the many!
