Why. The game runs fine. But the second i'm near more than 4 people at one point in time my ping goes from 50ish to 250ish. Everytime, shooting or no shooting. Its only NS, it dosent do this for anyotehr game, includeing CS:S, which is a hell of a lot more demanding than NS. Also, this problem seems to only be effecting me in Beta 5. It was fine in Beta 4a.

I've been having the same problems too. Since last week, I've been getting lag spikes when I've never gotten them.

I'm on a college T3, so it isn't that.

Deleted my config and created a new one. Still wont fix it.

Client side graphics problem perhaps?

Yes it could always be dealing with your internet providor, that or the server you play on could just be having problems. Go find a better server with a lower ping. If you still lag its a problem on your end, and no it has nothing to do with ns but your ISP company, or a few changing of the rates might help, who knows.

my FPS are still around 70-80 when this is going on. But my ping goes from 50's to 500 if im anywhere near anybody, on any server. Like i said, this problem came about when beta 5 was released. I NEVER had this problem in beta 4a, or earlier.

i used to have that problem, but it turned out that the default rate in ns is way too low. try this command in the console and see if it gets less laggy.

rate 2500000

then type this command

net_graph 2

if you look at that blue bar on the bottom of the screen that says 30 k/s and its not constantly flatlining on the red, then your ok. if it does blue to red diagnal bars then the rate might be too low still. just expirement with the rate a bit and see what you come up with.
