    Good Interview!
So it seems NS:source is entirely in the hands of HL2. Lets just hope its all we have been expecting, if not more.

Good, I was afraid that DooMIII's engine might be considered. *<i>shudder</i>*

I still think that the bus is dead.

As usual, it was the incredibly fancy version of saying, "No comment."

Actually, no, it was more like an elaborate version of "Maybe."

Stop bashing. Thats better than we've gotten in months and you damn well know it. Let alone the fact that the competitive community will be getting a forum, and the fact that it is now a FULL POSSIBILITY(instead of the dry "no" we've gotten in the past) that NS will be ported to HL2.

GJ Kali, I hope we'll continue getting interviews from ya. 'specially when you know what questions to ask.

I will do what I can and try to hold contact to the NS team. There are also some updates planned on my NS websites which seems to get more and more readers.

With cagey's leaving to EA (and now he can't work on NS) the bus has kind of been stopped ead in its tracks, but the NS dev team will start it back up again, once other bigger concerns are dealt with. Well, what would you have said?
"Yeah, we're definetely going to port it. OK, everything we saw of HL2 up to this point might have come straight out of a renderfarm for all we know, we have no idea how many people are actually going to play it, we haven't had any chance to check the SDK out, and, small detail here, none of us owns the game as of yet, but look at those nice high-poly models we just finished!"
I like to think of myself as a little more professional than that.

Nope. Work on B6 is taking priority, but there's progress made on it, anyway. Thank god, Cagey left a very good basis for further work behind.

you take the wrong buses then, the ones we have here are air conditioned and have plenty of legspace.

Just. Unchain. It's so simple. The alternative is spending vastly more time and energy buffing the hell out of MCs and SCs, but that doesn't solve the problem, because then the order will just be replaced with a new one like SMD or MDS ect.

Good to hear also that the team is aware of the uselessness of certain hive 3 abilities. Could Beta 6 be the long awaited "Alien-buff patch"?

(Admin's warning: I know a lot of you feel very strongly about the unchaining topic, but this thread is not dealing with it, so please don't extend that tangent in here overly. There's a shiny 'New Topic' feature for that purpose.)

Unchained chambers are certainly a solution, but the question is whether that solution would lead the game into the desired direction. A lot of users have (rightfully) noted and lamented that the RTS aspect of NS has been somewhat de-emphasized in favor of the FPS aspect in recent times. Unchained chambers mean a de-facto removal of the alien's (rudimentary) tech tree, thus further leading NS down a lane many, includuing members of the dev team, are not really comfortable with. Yes, striking a balance between the chambers is hellishly difficult, especially due to the high necessity of the DC's regeneration-related advantages in early game. But then, NS was never a game that took the easy way over the right way.

    On the BUS system..

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->It's definitely not a 'mere' visual enhancement. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

So, it's a visual enhancment. Maybe not a mere one, but one none the less.

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->It is a new underlying system that will, depending on how far it is picked up by the community, not so much alter the game itself as one's approach to it. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Alter one's approach to it? Sound's like a help system to me.

Put me on record for being the first to guess it's some kind of on-screen pop up that explains what weapons and structures do.

I've searched the forums and can't find any other info on this.. IS there anything else on this topic?
