for me
ok so silly me I decide to mess around with daemon tools, and i think it ended up being the source of the following problem: Upon dismounting the drives my actuall drives just disapeared. I search around in my bios and it says something like there are no drives "on." So I switch it to "auto" and it just says unknown device. Under device manager it shows only one drive "WDC WD2500JD- 74GBB0" and that it is working properly. Is this a case of finding the proper drivers again? Any ideas?

You messed with your hardware too? If not, I can't think of anything that could do such a thing.

    *bump*

I've not messed with any hardware except in trying to fix the prob. I've tried unplugging>rebooting plugging back in>reboting. I've tried adding hardware and i've looked for drivers, there are none.

What the hell have I done. Help is very much apreciated.

Daemon tools isnt at fault, thats for sure. Its a software thing. Your problems a hardware issue. Try reinstalling the drivers from your windows cd-rom.

Bleh, typo. Im pretty sure windows copies the drivers.cab file to hard-disk. Try looking there. Also, can't hurt to take apart the system and rebuild it. That can do amazing things sometimes.

yea like I said, I disconnected both drives then put them back in. No success there. This is really annoying.

Maybe you did something awful with your drive bios.

i can't think how i would. Actually one other point is that the problem started at the same time that another "problem" of sorts did. Now every time I start up my computer i'm asked if i want to f1 - continue on to windows or f2 - enter setup.

above those choses it just says something about intel raid bios. I've not messed with the bios untill after both of these things started. I think i may just call nerds on wheels or whatever that company is.

    e/ couldn't find drivers.cab

Try reseting the bios to default setings.

Well I suppose since a format is out of the question, I'd open up my case, take out the little battery on the motherboard and wait a half-hour. Put it back, and try again.

reboot your pc with windows/operating systems cd. you might have "disconnected" all the drives from the computers "mind" so it can't detect them any more. reinstall, best i can say for now, if that doesnt work, take it to a hardware shop.

Uhm.. you're on the intarweb. You can probably get the drivers for the drives on the intarweb somewhere. Look at the vendors website first, if not google em.

I have the exact product IDs and I've been to the company sites. The only thing there was firware for my CD burner and that really shouldn't be needed to solve the problem.

I think I may rummagew around for that battery.
