I'd like to see if they can reintegrate him into society. I mean, he sounds to be REALLY far off.

    Sums it up for me.

I, too, would like to see if they can integrate him into society. That would be pretty hard.

There was a girl who was tied to a chair untill she was 8 I think in california, she had a horrid time trying to adjust, the original mother and father ended up in prison, the sociologists who discovered her took her in but another group took them to court to take her for the sheer purpose of study. She ended up in a mental hospital from the age of 19-47 when she died. I think. I could be off on the numbers.

That would be interesting, to see if he has any communicative capabilities with canines. Of course you have to teach him something we can understand too, all without losing his ability to communicate with dogs, if he can in the first place.

I'm guessing it'd be mostly body language- the stiffening up of certain muscles, with occasional growling/whimpering/whatever to indicate general moods.

at first i thought that the only excuse that his parents would have is if they were dead, then i realized even thats not an excuse. they had to of had friends who knew the kid was alive or something. the only way he could live like that at that house with that dog is if his parents just dropped him off at the abandoned house.

She was 13. Her name was Genie. She was tied down to a portable toilet during the day and at night, they would put a stray-jacket on her. She was HORRIBLY disfigured from the ropes and bad posture. She now has the vocab of a 4 year old even though she is 25 I think now.

That's what I figure. This has to be case of an abandoned child, because if the parent's just up and died, in all likelihood, someone would have made sure the child got taken somewhere.

    A chihuahua.

    Does it matter?

A kid was raised by a dog!! I don't think Huskies know any better than Terriers how to raise children.

I think that they should let him go back to his dog and keep them well-fed. We shouldn't try to force him to change or integrate him with society. Would you suddenly like being forced to live like a dog after living in a human society for your entire life?

But he's moving up not going down. He, in his ignorance, may believe that his life as it is is just fine. But ethically that just wouldn't be right. His mind is in an unnatural state right now. This needs to be righted.

Maybe. Or maybe he was quite happy as a dog. No worries about paying taxes, getting a job, ect.

Besides, the dog did a pretty good job of raising him if you ask me: taught him how to get food, taught him how to deal with strangers....

If he believes that his life is just fine and he's happy, why does anything else matter? He can survive, he's got a parent who has taught him the basics for survival...

If I believe that my life as a Catholic will make someone happier than they currently are, am I ethically obliged to lock them up in a room and convert them?

And what exactly is a natural state?

He and the dog should never, ever be seperated. Considering an animal raised him for SIX years of his life. That dog deserves the Nobel prize or something.
