About Installing Beta5

<div class="IPBDescription">A quick question</div> Now that I'm finally back from summer vacation, I can soon finally install b5 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Now, I have my own config file, scripts, custom models, etc and I wish to keep using those. I heard something about the new ns beta is installed in a different folder than b4 was? So, that means I'll have to copy some files over to the new models/sounds/sprites folders (where-ever they are) if I want to keep using them right? And I'll just need to make a copy of my config file to the new folder right?

I'd appreciate any help from people who were in the same situation that I am.

    Old NS folder is NSP the new one is NS so just place the model folder and such from the NSP folder in the NS folder.

    I would say copy your config.cfg, userconfig.cfg, and any other cfgs that you have edited into your half-life/ns folder. As well, if you want custom sprites, you'll have to figure out which sprites you want, and copy them (with the accompying .txt file) into your half-life/ns/sprites/ folder as well.

    As a sidenote, all crosshairs begin with xhair.

    Right and I remember that b5 also has some new models of its own. I'll need to be careful to not overwrite the ones that are new with the old b4 ones.

    Yep, and some new sounds. I think the shotgun animations/grenade animations have changed. The welder has changed but I think that was primarily the sounds and the code. There are new sounds too, tell us what you think of the jetpack <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    b5 mainly just has the new shotgun sprite. The old sprite folder will still work fine if that's what you want to use. I'd suggest making a backup of the sprite folder and then overwriting the new folder with your old one. If you have problems, just find the offending sprites and overwrite them again with the newer ones.

    Simple, do what I did.

    Find your old model/sound packs (War crim's sounds are mine forever now, I can't live without his marine vox sounds) and back them up, or make them read only, along with your .cfgs.

    Then rename your NSP folder to NS and install regularly.

    Doink. All done.
