i handled one of these during our army open house, the special forces uses em

anyway, the model isnt really done yet, as you can see....needs smoothing, fixing of face errors and a magazine <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

crits and comments pls, i'll make amendments before going on to the smoothing phase

*btw, as it is without the magazine, it weights in at a hefty 1921 polies D:
so it'll prolly be 2000+ with the mag

*update, deep exploration renders, will do for now...
havent fixed the face errors yet

    Very nice, but you shouldn't render the inside of the barrel - it's wasted polies unless you intend to have an animation that looks down inside the barrel.

    Just skin a hole. But like he said, some people like to reload with their safety off and the gun pointed at their face.

Seriously, Whatever the face of the barrel was will be twice as many polies, ok seems fine. lets say it was 6, now it's 12 polys (+6 unneeded) then it's six sided cylinder inside. 6 times 2 (two triangles per rectangle: 6+6 more uneeded). As well you have the point where they meet on the inside of the barrel, i see six there, no matter how they're placed. (6 * 3 uneeded) We have a total of *drumroll* 18 wasted polies...

    lets say the gun itself is 800 polys (just made that number up) i dont think the extra 20 REALLY matter that much.</span>

    oh btw looks very nice, but i dont like the trigger gaurd.     the barrel isnt hollow, its just the compensator, since it has vent holes, i have to make a hole in it rather than just a piece of rectagular block with cuts in it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Nice modeling, but I suggest to all you gun modellers to start trying to model characters and humans. Learning to model less geometrically is a whole new thing!
