Are The Targetting Commands Similar To Tfc?

<div class="IPBDescription">Will %i work?</div> Mostly I'm just asking if its possible to use some of the binds I normally use when I play TFC..
I've searched through the message board and maybe I'm not inputing the correct format, but nothing has come of the searches for this information. I'm just curious about this one command.

bind "F3" "say_team %i covering you."

My system is unable to use the voice communications program. Rodger wilco I can use, but for some reason, the Vcomms wont work, never has.

But when your trying to help a team mate, opening up the talk menu and using the canned voice of "I'm covering you." doesn't quite tell the person your trying to cover.

I'm about to make them and try it out, but as I said, I was asking.. I don't want to make binds that make me able to jump about, pull a matrix on someone and hit them with several parasites, bite once, and then leap at them all with a single touch of a button.. I'd be too busy laughing at the results of respawning in.

Take care all.

In case you didn't know scripts aren't allowed in Natural Selection, only bind keys are allowed. You can try to script if you want but it'll just kill you and tell you that you can't use scripts. The anti-script measures are written into the mod itself so no way if disabling it unless you have the source and you wanna hack it. Besides, good players don't need scripts...

ranma, that has relevance how? she specifically sais she DIDNT want a script, just some bind help.

skunk as far as i can tell there is no %i, %h, and %a like in TFC which pisses me off as well. it would be very useful for comms. if there is a different way of doing it im yet to find out. ive had to put up with just doing simultaneous message/voice binds as it is...

    Thank you Explosive,

I just got through trying and no luck.. crud.. looks like I get to try and do a pantomime and hope the others can figure it out.. mostly as it seems as soon as I start typing it never fails.. *chomp chomp chomp* all the while I'm trying to type out, the persons name, I'm covering you while you build."

Ranma, all I can say is you really need to learn to read before you go responding.. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Ah well..

Yeah, this would help a lot of people who don't have access to voice. Note, for clans, most use voice, and make it an issue to have it, but for pubs and such, this would help the average gamer out a ton (well, above average, since they'd have to come HERE to learn about the binds for such things...)

Anyway, good luck on getting this implemented, it even helps voice comm poeple, cuz they don't need to always spam the voice just to tell someone they're covering them.

what i really would like to see is %L, to report your location. apereantly the maps already have location triggers in them (your curent location displayed in the lower left screen) , would only need a little bit coding.

i would believe it will prob be added, its a real bugger having to type the location that is already displayed, a little quick thing would be alot more help.

Perhaps this should be posted in the suggestions forum?
Might want to see if it has been posted first. If it has, bump the topic. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
