This is just a model hack, so here are the parts that were used:

Original model, SST: Roughnecks marine:
- 1st compile and putting the following parts together: Chubbie.boi
- Head: "Opposing Force Marine" by Gearbox (developers of the "Opposing Force" Addon for Half-Life)
- Body base: "Shockmarine" by Jaeger
- Backpack: Taken from some CS model by -X- (?!)

This version of the model:
All the stuff mentioned above and also
- Holster: Taken from the TS model "Trooper" by Selbstmord (I think... 0_O)
- Armor: Taken from the marine model by Brigadier Wolf
- Jetpack: I used the StarCraft Marine Jetpack & parts of Jaeger's Shockmarine JP
- Animations: NS Team
- Skin editing: CaptainPanaka
- This compile, betatesting ;-) and putting all the parts togehter: CaptainPanaka
- "Main" Skin origiganlly by Jaeger, Reskin by UESC Durandal
- Head modification by UESC Durandal
- "Bodypacks" originally by Jaeger's Shockmarine, added to SST Marine by UESC Durandal

    burn that helmet dude...

    Sorry about that, but it's really stupid just to have a visor on an otherwise sealed suit, isn't the sole purpose of the helmet in the "roughnecks" series to provide a safe breathing environment.

    From the pictures, it looks like he has totally whacked shins, making him look funny. Download link doesn't work.

    The original type was a roughneck this is <b><u>NOT</u></b> a roughneck, its a free conversion. I called SST marine modification because then people could imagine what they will see hear

    i always saw something weird with this model, and liku's comment helped me see it
    this guy has legs like a model or something, too skinny i think and the top part of his legs are too long, while the bottom part are too short i think?

    maybe thats why it looks kinda funny

    I think in general the model is quite well done (yes the legs are a bit ill-proportioned), but i think another concern is how large the face is in comparison with the helmet (just gives a skewed perspective on his body proportions, imo).
    But other than those 2 things, it looks pretty damn cool <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    well, i am not a big model guy so if anyone would try make better legs and a better face, so do it.

    Or tell me how the face and upper legs or the legs at all should be.
  • UESCdurandalUESCdurandal Join Date: 2003-05-24 Member: 16660Members
    I changed the model a little bit.

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/madjack84/befav.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    Changelist:
    - made the head thinner
    - made the upper legs wider(?)/ bigger

    And <a href='http://www.iownallyourbase.com/hosting/hosting/soldier.zip' target='_blank'>here</a> the new model. Hope you like it

    lengthen the shins by taking off more from the thighs; and add more thickness to the thighs. maybe even thicken up the shins. this guy is a soldier of some sort hes obviously physically built.
    the waist looks a lil thin as well. last point... bring the chest armour up towards his head a bit more.. looks like its sitting around his abs etc.

    btw the head looks a lot better now. gw <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    well as the creator of the "original" SST: Roughnecks marine I can say:

    Chubbie.boi started the whole idea of it... He made the basic model out of the OP4 marine (head) and Jaegers "Shock Marine" (which is based on the old Masterchief model). I didn't touch the legs, nor did that Chubbie.boi or Jaeger. Those legs are like that since the old MC model so... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    And yeah... I originally don't wanted to release that model, so there are still some things I *should* have changed but I got lazy... like the kneepads, the "head" and some things on the skin...

    1. Like I said before I'm no big modeler.
    2. This model isn't from me, I just did or better are doing some modifications.
    3. I don't have a concept.

    I did those modeifcations to get some kind of Breed Grunt, cause Brat Design doesn't allows copying their one to HL.

    But thx anyway <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Ok my last wok result here:

    I made the shines bigger and the waist more wider.

    Compare with breed Grunt

    <img src='http://home.arcor.de/kaleu.ul2/compare.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    And the new file <a href='http://www.iownallyourbase.com/hosting/hosting/soldier.zip' target='_blank'>here.</a>

    may be I make a buzz lightyear skin ^^.

    The head? ehr, no I didn't change something concerning the head at this time. But I'm glad that now more people like it.

    reminds me of the halo model but with an elongated head, be cool if made like a visor for eyeish region of the face then a cool gas mask thingy for the bottom of the face, so its a complete helmet
  • MausMaus Join Date: 2002-11-03 Member: 5599Members
    You should at least fix the knee pads - when I first converted that halo marine I messed up the vertex assignments there (one vertex per knee is on the wrong bone), and it's never been fixed since in anyone's tweak of the model. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    my aim was to go away from this full closed visor, thats the reason I made this modification
