Scrolling Trouble As Commander

I dont know if this is just me but when im scrolling around the map the camera often gets stuck and then jumps back. The mouse works better but some places i just cant click or it does the same, i think it might be because the camera is server side? either way at the very least it costs me precious seconds and at the most i get completely stuck and cant move the camera.

This should be in the technical help forum.

There are definitely some scrolling problems that will be fixed eventually (it's all predicted, not server-side). The biggest problem I know about is using your movement keys to scroll (it doesn't work when you're moving your mouse).

When I use my movement keys I tend to fly all over the map. That is, if I press A for left, I'll keep scrolling left even after I've let off the button. I have to rely soley on the mouse.

yeah when i was using my default movement keys it was going insane but when i moved the mouse while doing that it would stop. then i tried my arrow keys and it went slow

I've found that not using asdw and using the directional keys instead prevents the "flying across the map like a pinball". It's how I play starcraft, I adjusted to it quite quickley.

I think I'm too used to RTS games, like StarCraft of World Craft III, that stop scrolling the screen when you stop pressing the arrow keys, because I just cannot get used to the NS commander controls for the life of me.

    Oh well, practice makes perfect..

you can define alternate scrolling keys in the config menu

they work much better than using the movement keys

i really can't understand why it can't work properly. you'd think this would be one of the simplest things to code.

    oh yes?

perhaps you should post the correct code here if it is so simple, i bet Flayra will be happy about your help. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
