this is malicious and cruel - even if nexus decompiled established maps and claimed them for his own, he wasn't as much of an atavistic meanie as half the people on these forums.
That said, happy birthday. Hopefully he's found something better than the cold reception he got here.

Man, NZ-Nexus gets a birthday thread, and I don't, and its my 21st. Now I know where I stand in the world. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Cold reception? People throughout the mapping community tried to help him. They offered constructive critisism of his maps and more often than not got abusive responses. Then his first decompile was revealed. People were understandably angry, because Nexus had swore that the map wasn't a decompile. After promising on a stack of bibles that he wouldn't decompile any more, Nexus showed us a new map...that turned out to be a decompile. Oaths of repentance were sworn and never again would decompiling occur said Nexus. Then it happened again.
I believe by the end this had occured around 4 times. You simply cannot expect people to treat you with respect when you trample all over their trust over and over again. An isolated incident, sure, we have forgiveness enough for that. But to repeatedly lie to us and violate our trust? I think it's a tribute to the patience of the community that we were actually still speaking to him by the end.
Don't try to justify being a moron with that statement. Have you ever thought about trying to better yourself? Just because someone does stupid things, doesn't mean you have to jump up to tear them down all the time.
Just because someone does something wrong, doesn't mean you have to stoop to their level and do the same, even if it is in a different manner.
I try my hardest to show <i>everyone</i> respect, more where it is deserved of course. I sometimes wish the world would follow my examples. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Stupid things I take barely any notice of. Everyone does stupid stuff.
Lieing and dragging people's trust through mud? Those are not the actions of someone worthy of respect. Swearing not to do something then going and doing that very thing over and over again? You can't expect people to trust you when you do that.
I should point out that I didn't flame Nexus. I was saddened and upset by his actions and conduct, but all I said was that I was saddened and upset. That said, nexus brought the abuse he suffered upon himself; if he hadn't decompiled maps and repeatedly lied to the community, he would have been as well recieved and accepted as any other mapper.

Nope. Bonus points to whoever figures it out.

Please someone explain this joke to me.
And I do feel sorry for nexus, but I don't blame anyone for becoming incredibly frustrated with him.
I was going to make one for you, but I didn't know if you wanted to be recognized as sharing your date of birth with Nexus <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
