Lightgamma Fun

OMG ATMOSPHERE!!!1111
Ok, I just tried playing NS with high lightgamma, as in light gamma 4. 5. 7 etc. It is REALLY cool, the dark spots are appropriately dark, it makes rooms really atmospheric. Just try it, Light gamma 5 is the best I think.

It certainly adds to the atmosphere yes, but if you value being able to kill anything in the game, I suggest you put lightgamma at around 2-3.

I personally like having my gamma low, makes the game so much better with the atmosphere, but since no one else does it, it leaves no reason for me to..

Doesn't seem to hurt me as far as playing goes, except on altair. I'm at lightgamma 4 for now, maybe ill go to 4.5

Wait, I just thought of how cool this would be with the tron glow effect. I'll have to get that sometime...

It really is cool... If you are playing in a late night LAN party; where everbody uses high lightgamma... Try it... with such high frustration and intense atmosphere; It totally changes ns gameplay...

But for online play with players you dont know; dont even bother...

Altair is the devil. You could fire a thermonuclear warhead in some of those areas and you still wouldn't be able to see crap. MT rush is quite nice on that map.

What? People setting lightgamma to a... high number?

    Blasphemy!

Since NS is somewhat a FPS, I doubt people would want to sacrafice K:D for atmosphere, but there are those few, such as you!

    Hey, that rhymed.

yeah, I think it'd be fun to play a game with everyone on high gamma, might make things a little more favored for aliens possible

Yeah, it does look nice. I use it myself, since I play NS for atmosphere.

Isn't it strange how the most played maps in NS have almost no shadows whatsoever?

jeez what did you set it to?

this is with light gamma 4,

in game the lighting is a little diffrent and you can notice those corners more, or its just my moniter. lightgamma 4 really makes the maps look a lot nicer imo.

Maybe it's because it's a balanced map with many routes and strategies?

Multiplayer team games don't need so much mapper talent as they need planning.

Lol at sarcasm... why do you feel the need for comment anyway if you never played in a game everbody uses high lightgamma...

Ofcourse it is meaningless if you are the only one with that settings; which is why I use low lightgamma in online play... But once we gather for LAN and tweak monitors and gamma; NS becomes a totally different game... more intense; more entertaining; and with more sneak strategies...

All I say is; try if you can gather such a group... you will not regret it...

Slightly off-topic: Once/if Devs integrate glow pixelshader ns; high lightgamma will totally rock... I wonder if its possible to add it in b6 or the official version... Do devs have such plans for glow mode???...
