Ok... How Do You Get Level 3 Alien Upgrades?

Per hive you get one additional chamber.

But , as people have suggested, I've built 2 more of x chamber to get the other upgrade levels. After I do so, I STILL can't access higher level upgrades...

I haven't found an answer yet... because every server i've been in no matter what I still never get more then one level.

Do you have to build the chambers next to the original? or what?

Umm... If I'm not mistaking, it automatically pushes the upgrade up a level when you build the required chambers? New to this game as of today, I may be wrong.

Sure you can, you just havent realized it.

When you see a upgrade chamber icon flashing on the mid-right of the screen, that means that chamber's upgrades are available for you to evolve. Only ONE of each type will flash. If you have 14 defense chambers, you will still see only ONE flashing defense chamber icon.

Now, when you go to evolve something, you notice the little (2) next to it. That is the RP cost of the upgrade, NOT the level of it. Once you finish an upgrade, you will notice a couple of icons replacing those of the chamber you got that upgrade from. The number of those icons is the level of that upgrade. If you build more, the level increases automatically. If you lose some chambers, you keep the level you evolved at until you die. You DO NOT need to evolve multiple times to gain increasing levels, only to gain different upgrades.

If AFTER you evolve, you STILL only have 1 icon and have 14 chambers, THEN something is wrong.

Actually, the manual isnt very helpful on this topic. I treat the manual as a backstory resource more than a technical 'this is how the game works' guide. The only thing the manual mentions is that once you have 3 upgrade chambers, more dont give you higher level upgrades. It mention nothing of the auto-increasing level, or the significance of the number beside the upgrade, or the fact that you cant see the level of an upgrade you will get until after you upgrade it.

ah.... so its nothing i have to do except build 3+ of each chamber....

I wasn't paying too close attention to the icons except that the upgrade itself stated 'higher levels' and I couldn't click on it again =P

The manual is pretty much useless considering playing as aliens anyway. It gives a nice human side view of the aliens, which helps to set background, but little else.

There should be playing-as-marine howto and especially playing-as-alien howto.

I agree with that.. people have learned to play aliens through experience and word-of-mouth here.. the manual has no real how-to stuff in it.. its more of a backstory (and a good one at that). I think there should definitely be a commander mode how-to.
