Lots of incredibly fun mods (CS, NS, DoD and many many more).
NS alone justifies the buy as I am not a CS or DoD player.
Also let me not forget SvenCOOP which makes HL1 a total blast for some free range shooting and team tactics.
The best thing about HL1 is the fact that the engine is quite old and buffing your video accel to use 6x FSAA and 16x AF makes it look SO good.
Even with Half Life 2 on the way I doubt that there will be a lot of mods to play from the start.
And even though DM/TDM could be fun if physics can be used I doubt Valve themselves have a lot lined up for players considering the huge ammount of single player material they have to test and go through.
So just put on your steel toe'd boot and kick'em where it hurts until they buy it.
Best money EVER SPENT.
As it would be a complete overhaul like any other mod would be made for HL2. Everything from scratch.

This actually isn't true...
From what I read (this was a while ago...but it was on the offical SDK site) that they made it pretty easy, the code is pretty much the same you would just have to retexutre everything, maybe add a few anims and other new touches if you'd like, and then it would be good to go.

Flayra has also stated several times in the past, as have a number of admins, that if NS was to be ported (This is NOT saying it will be) then it will be coded from scratch to take full advantage of the new engine, not just a half-arsed port.
what is the official SDK site??
