Killing Marines In Vents

<div class="IPBDescription">How to do it.</div> Most Alien players probably already know that it's a pain to kill Marines in vents, or ducked marines in general. To test this, I started a LAN game in ns_nancy, the map that is infamous for Marine vent ownage. This was tested in two locations. By the Marine spawn, in the vent that is right by their second Resource Collector, and right near one of the Alien hives, the real wide but short vent. I got a Marine in the vent, then took a Skulk to his location. I bit the Marine in the dead center. No damage. So I slowly bit and looked up. No damage. I then started to bite and look down. Then BAM! I hurt the marine! The secret is funny... <b> AIM FOR THEIR GROIN!!!</b> A bite between the legs and just under their groin will hurt them.

I've attached a small image to give you the idea. I had to make it much brighter though.

May we now control the vents.

    If you have 3 hives up, i love clearing them out with the Lerks spores. Quite effective and very deadly.

    Skulks can attach themselves to marines groins' while the marine runs around frantically trying to get his mates to shoot him in his privates.

    Or maybe not.

    Many times I have flanked Marines in vents, and every time I died, even after getting what should of been 5-6 bites in before he even turned around.

    Well I checked out the model hitboxes in HLMV, and it doesn't seem that the hitboxes extend down there in the crouch animations...so I can't figure out why this would be an issue in the first place. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the Skulk "bite" is attacking at a funny angle.

    Thats ironic that you posted this, I had an encounter in that VERY vent on nancy with a marine, (light armor), in which i clearly bit him 3 times into the chest and he didn't take any damage. I was **obscenity**.     Thanks for the tip there, I was vent-pwned twice today, infuriating really cause I bit him 7 times in the **obscenity** and he turns around and knifes me. Saaaaaaad.

    Ive noticed this with Fades and Onos aswell smack them into a corner while they are crouching and they dont take any damage

    Marines can do this on slopes and corners as well ... unless the aliens crouch too. I love marines who try to cheese me with this (particularly the idiots who try to get a cheap knife kill out of it).

    Just crouch along with them, and proceed to eviscerate.

    Hitboxes do seem to have a slight problem...but a crouched marine should live too long since he can't really move <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    You should probably take this concept to the NS fiction forum...could do some kinky stuff with that
