Guess someone needs to bug the adminmod people until they can fix it. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
not sure if my problem is the same... whenever I try to load AM on my Win32 machine it crashes as soon as both teams have players... dunno wtf is causing it...
Its <b>usually</b> not Admin Mods fault. Theres a couple of reasons why Admin mod wont usually work:
a) the mod is doing something wierd and nonstarndard in its code. (Action halflife menus, FLF crashes at round end, etc..) b) metamod isn't passing the correct entites through to the mod dll.
Now the solutions are:
a) mod coders recode the effected bits in a standard fashion. b) mod coders send a complete and up to date entity list to willday@metamod.org
Ok, thats the basic stuff thats most likely to cause problems. If its not either of those then yes, theres probably some wierd bug in Admin mod thats stopping it from working correctly. At that stage you can start bugging Wraith to have a look at it.
But first Flaya needs to go through and check its not his code causing problems for admin mod and also make sure Metamod is using the full entity list.
Heh. This is a strange thing. I'm not sure what counts as "standard" or not, as MM/AM wraps HL and HL mods in a crazy way. I'll do whatever I can to fix this, I'll start working on it now.
Just have a chat with Wraith and Will, I'm sure you can sort something about between you three <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Hmm, I've been playing around with AM on win32 and haven't been able to get it to crash yet. I don't have people here to help me test though. It sounds like it's crashing on a server reset, which happens as soon as players join both teams (the server resets all entities when the countdown starts). When the server resets, it deletes all the dropped entities in the world and moves map entities back to their starting positions (that makes it sound so easy).
I'm looking into this, but if anyone can provide any more insight, that'd be great.
You seem to know something about the crash bug when the server changes maps after a team wins on one side, could you shed a little more light on this bug? if there is some way on the admin side I could fix it I would love to. thanks again.
TiberionElite 129.21.122.105:27015 version 1.01 NS
I just downloaded the latest version, installed it with ns being the mod and set the config (the usual setting I use, but I avoided all automatic map votes as I'm not sure they'll work too good in NS). I had absolutely no crashes, and all the adminmod commands worked except the admin_csay and admin_tsay. I am also using the default installed plugins, with none disabled.

actaully, they do work. they just scroll down like the status windows when you are going to spawn or whatever. they are there. just can't use colors anymore i don't think.
Cracker, I have all those "help" hints turned off so I don't see them... I guess thats why. I stick to using admin_say because of that.
Dark spawn, its Linux, and I have read alot of posts in this thread about linux users having trouble getting it to run too, so its not just Win32, but thanks.

I experienced the same problem as many others - as soons as you have players on both teams, the server crashes. For those experiencing this problem, I can tell you the cause:
Admin Mod creates an entity in the game in order to make timers work. Natural Selection doesn't seem to like the existence of this entity. I removed the code from the Admin Mod DLL that creates the entity and I can then start a game. Of course in doing this I have broken Admin Mod functionality-wise, so this is not a solution yet - don't even bother asking for copies of the modified DLL.
What needs to happen is either the Admin Mod authors change some property of the timer entity so that natural selection ignores it, in the same way that all the other mods do, or the Natural Selection authors change it so that it ignores the timer entity in its present form.

Instsalling admin mod 2.50.50 on my NS server caused it to crash when a second person joined the game. I have a windows dedicated server. I can only surmise that it was because I installed the NS 1.01 patch, and admin mod 2.50.50 ONLY supports NS version 1.0(read the DOCS) <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo-->
Why the hell would people use cheats in a game like NS? There is no recoil, there's already a makeshift "wallhack" (hive mind and observatory), and it's a game where if you go out for your own personal glory, you will die.
wierd... I just wanted to say that I'm new at this whole admin thing. I just set my first server up yesterday and well... I'm running a win32 ns1.01 server with adminmod, and clanmod on it... and well I've had no crashes... I did have some problem getting all the right files in the right directories but after I spent a bunch of time doing that everything worked fine... and all I did was follow the directions in the help file. I know it works and it doesnt' reboot every 5-10 min on its own.
By the way... what's pingbooster? I haven't heard of that before.

I've been trying to download admin mod for hours now but the download server isn't responding and I cannot find an alternative. Would someone be kind enough to host the latest version?

Anyways, I've wasted too much of my time trying to get it to work already.. heh..
When I've got a whole 4 hours to investigate again, I weill do so.
Cheers!
If anyone want it you can get it at www.unitedadmins.com
Their webserver seems to be down atm, though.

couldn't exec adminmod/configs/adminmod.cfg
I could get it to load if I moved the adminmod folder into NS and changing the line on my server.cfg to "exec adminmod.cfg"
But I'm not sure if that's going to work. I'm a complete n00b when it comes to trying to run servers. I've never done it before.

Apparently its official (if i'm late posting this ignore me then)
Adminmod isn't 100% compatible with NS.
Why it works on my linux server and not others ppls is confusing and quite interesting.
