Or is NS infested by a massive horde of MORONS?
The past few days I've played, I've noticed more peopel NOT building stuff I tell them to build. People humping the armory despite my hysterical "PHASE PHASE PHASE" spams when I tell them to go to the siege spot, and people bypassing res nodes when I drop one right in front of their faces.
Okay, I am all for having new people into this community, but these people are STUPID.
Sure, they can shoot down those little dog like things with ease, but they are USELESS outside of that. They won't build RTs, they won't build PGs, they won't phase to PGs, they won't do ANYTHING outside of shooting those alien like thingies.
I had a marine asking for around 3 minutes... "is there somebody inside that block thingy?" (It was the command console, I was commander).
"Go SUYF I've only played for three days and I don't know what to do!" (A link to the damn manual on the official site would really help, devs...)
And I had a core of two vets that knew what was happening too, and they were just as frustrated as I was.
Okay, I can understand how some people can't seem to grasp the concept of why not to lock down hives, or why the commander doesn't drop guns, or something like that. But at least use the freaking "E" key to build stuff.
But come on, it seems like these people have the IQ of a rock. THAT OCTAGONAL GLOWING THING! WHAT IS THAT?!?!?

Then realize that NS was just a bad dream and come back to it when you're calmer, or not at all. Nobody said it was good to care so much about a game, just let it pass. Sit back, have some fun.
If things get really, really bad, I have a super-secret strat for you.
5 IP knife rush. Totally unstoppable. Give it some style, some sort of theme (In the name of Muad'Dib, I slay thee!) and let the marines have some fun. Relax a bit. Then sleep well at night and know that life really does suck. Smile, and eat some ramen. Rinse and repeat.
(Optional: add work/school/life at differing points along the line)
And if we do play NS, the marines just sit there, dont build anything and ask for a shotgun, and then when you have to get out off the cc to build something, they get a freaking brain wave and suddendly know how to get int he cc quickly. Once they are there they just sit there and dont do anything.
I'm of course talking about "browse games" and that NS is on top of the third-party games list.
and yes I've also noticed a extremb dumbness on the servers I play on(omg I'm scared).
But enjoy the moment, cause it gonna get a whole lot worse when NS ends up under "My Games" list.
And I really mean ALOT worse.
I would guess that most of this players(creatures?) have layed stat-based games, like CS or TFC, and don't want to end up time building ****, but to get good stats.
And the sadest thing is thoose CS(and other) players that has got some skill in the game and noticed that spawn camping generates ALOT of frags...(me crying)

Actually, I've been meaning to throw this suggestion out there for all server admins; if you want a server free of new players yet still open to a large player base, posting the password here is probably the best way to do it.
Get used to it. But at the same time, value it: You'll get some good friends out of it.

maybe people just don't care about winning or losing and are just playing for fun or with friends and building/phasing really doesn't mean anything to them since they just want to meet up and try to go get to some area together

Reminds me of when a friend of mine, Mr Facist Da Squirl, walked in to our server today and said "You guys thought this server was full of idiots? No way. I went to a server just a few minutes ago and played, and they were just MORONS! In fact, one guy said "How come I cant buy Acid Rocket?"
If you play like a ****, it ruins the fun for everyone else. Marines cant play to win (or have fun because they arent making any progress) and you are just easy pickings for aliens. not much of a challenge.

That's not what they are doing. THEY ARE playing to win, for a personal win, they don't care the least about their team winning. Why should anyone play a heavily team work oriented game if they don't like team work? They should consider removing the scoreboard again TBH.

because there are fun things to do in this game unavailable to other games such as building forts or other similar things
perhaps you should stop taking games so seriously, as last i checked winning or losing in public games doesn't count for anything and playing is fun either way
I can agree with that, but I also tend to hate people who don't take anything at all seriously, yes its just a game, but even an average human being can at least put forth some effort to play the game how it was meant to be played.
