Saw A Strange Thing While Browsing

Well, I went to play a game of NS because for some reason the new Spear Head demo won't work for me :-/, anyway, I filtered by map because I wanted to play caged, but something caught my eye. There was a map called "Frenzy" at the very top of the list, so, I was like "oh cool! custom maps already!" so anyway, I join the server in hopes to dl the map but I pop right in there on a map I have never seen. It appears to of been a HL map without the ready room or anything of that sort for NS, because I was just flying around in spec looking around. I saw an MP5 and some shotgun ammo, so it must of been a HL map. Anyway, I took a screen shot of it because it was just too weird, but I don't know how to put it on here. So,I was just telling everyone about my little discovery <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Update: it now chanded to boot_camp lol strange stuff

    Odd that a HL game would popup if the NS mod is selected in the filters.

    yeah, I knew it was HL DM, it was just weird that it was shown on there. Later I saw 2 more servers playing it, maybe someone is trying to make a NS map out of old HL maps?

    If you used the default desktop icon and launch the game using that. You will wind up with the HL DM maps and only be able to fly about in spectator mode. If you still want a desktop icon for NS (at least for Win98):

    1. Delete the icon for Natural Selection located on your desktop.

    2. Copy the Lauch Natural Selection in the program menu START>PROGRAM>NATURAL SELECTION>(right mouse click on LAUNCH NATURAL SELECTION and choose copy.

    3. After copying, Paste it to the desktop

    4. Rename the icon if you don't like the default name that Windows will give it.

    From that moment on, the icon will function as it was intended.

    well.. it is perfectly possible for a NS server to play a HLDM map..
    any hl <b>mod</b> already contains the sum total of HL

    I wouldn't know about that. See, NS should have custom entities plus the starting entities for the teams are prolly different from the standard HL entities. So you can't really load just any map into an NS server.

    I wasn't running the default Desktop Icon, I already moved the .exe from the folder to my desk top <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> it was just really strange as I've never seen anything like that in all my years of playing HL mods. Also, I checked it on ASE and it was on there too <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
