    I got extra credit today for mentioning it to my AP Art History teacher, since she had a copy of it in her room and I was the first to mention it.

    Keeping up with the world pays off sometimes.

    @Davis

    Interview from The Daily Show <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Taken from another news show o'course. Sure it's "fake news" but it's actually decent information-wise.

    @Doom

    ahhh, ok. Sorry about that lol.

    Check my post on the first page; I already mentioned this. A lot of people are ticked that no one seems to have gotten the hint after the '94 theft. Apparently there were zero anti-theft measures in place in the Munch Museum, aside from a silent alarm to alert police.

    [edit: corrected with information from Medhead's link]<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Munch made four versions of "The Scream"...

    The Munch Museum had two of the "Scream" pictures; a private collector owns a third version; and the fourth is on display at Oslo's National Gallery. That version was stolen in February 1994 but recovered three months later.

    "They were all painted by Munch, and they are all just as valuable," Munch Museum spokeswoman Jorunn Christoffersen told AP.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->[/edit]

    My post also links to the NY Times article. You need to register to read it, most likely, but it's free and quite a good source of information IMO.

    hehe i live in norway and i gotta laugh. this country has NO efficient security, and the media almost dont focus on that at all. the robbers just went in, ripped the paintings down and went out. all done in under 5 minutes. and in that museum was paintings worth over 100 million$ or something. AND they had no insurance to cover for them. if art is so fantastic, i think its the museum owners that should be in the medias spotlight. fun to think its been stolen before too.

    security in museums are a thousand times loser then in a bank. in fact, all the museum this version of "the scream" was stolen from had was a wire connected to the back of each painting which, when broken, would sound a silent alarm. there are three other versions of the scream - **** coil beat me to it - blah blah

    The museum should replace the painting with a normal household electrical outlet. Noone will ever know the difference.

    Man this thread brings out the best in me.

    If the muesem ever gets it back, the price on it is going only to increase (if they wanted to sell it).

    The dutch news states that 97% of all famous paintings that are stolen are never recovered again. They will circulate in the criminal enviroment (maffia, yakuza and stuff) and it is mostly used as a 'downpayment'
