The Scream was stolen AGAIN?!??!
It was stolen from Germany in 1994 as well but it was recovered 3 months later.

A lot of people are ticked that no one seems to have gotten the hint after the '94 theft. Apparently there were zero anti-theft measures in place in the Munch Museum, aside from a silent alarm to alert police.

hehe i live in norway and i gotta laugh. this country has NO efficient security, and the media almost dont focus on that at all. the robbers just went in, ripped the paintings down and went out. all done in under 5 minutes. and in that museum was paintings worth over 100 million$ or something. AND they had no insurance to cover for them. if art is so fantastic, i think its the museum owners that should be in the medias spotlight. fun to think its been stolen before too.

The dutch news states that 97% of all famous paintings that are stolen are never recovered again. They will circulate in the criminal enviroment (maffia, yakuza and stuff) and it is mostly used as a 'downpayment'
