do you think there will be alien heat vision so he can see marines body heat in dark places???   that would be so cool.

    From my knowledge on this subject, the humans will emit a glow that every alien can see, so if you alien see's a marine, EVERY alien sees a marine, this is connected by the hive mind.  So if you see a marine and then vanish, or severeal marines, you know they're coming from there <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    It's more of a blip, kinda like a little dot or diamond shaped thing that appears at the location of a marine, rather than an 'aura' like in AvP.

    However, I do recall Flayra mentioning something about using the light-detection code from those roaches to determine if there is enough light for an alien to see a marine. Sooo.. the hive mind won't function as night vision, sorry. (As far as I know)

    I thought the light detection would be used when the marines went into overwatch mode to determine if they could see the aliens.

    Either way, it should be used for both.

    The blip will show you <i>where</i> the marine is, but will it also tell you how far away he is?
    I think the blip should get brighter and/or bigger as the marine gets closer to you.

    I hope its not cause than come rich company will want to pay the mod team and than sell it to us making it free no more. Not that they dont deserve pay, they should set up a donate thing, I would donate some money but im already -40 in the hole with my parents.

    No it will not be released with HL.  You'll must likely have to download it.  As for more betas, who knows?  Once Beta 1 comes avialable, you can always wait for more betas while playing!

    I like the idea of the icons getting brighter as they get closer. Either that, or maybe a set of numbers above or below the icon that would say how many units away it is. Whichever one would be easier to put in.

    yeah i agree that you would have to download it, but how big is it gonna be, 100 megs?

    a game with no servers means its not quite popurlar but im sure this mod with have atleast 200,800 servers and mostly like 638 players    :D

    Hmm... I sure hope this game doesn't turn out like GW or SI; both are great mods but their tiny fanbases have completely ruined them.  Maybe not so much SI as GW, but GW only has 2 full servers ATM <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->

    Don't worry about the servers.  MonsE and some others have said many times that they will be running many (many, I said) dedicated servers in the beginning.  After that, things will flesh out.  If the mod becomes as popular as we all hope it will, there'll be no problem finding a server.  If the mod isn't as popular, then it'll just be our little community here playing with MonsE's fatpipe.

    We sure hope so, Bob. Spyder Monkey is among their ranks, and they have also done some nice features on NS in the past. They are a terrific bunch of guys.

    i have cable but on teh homelan servers, which i only know from the cs servers i have a ping somewhat like 120-130.

    something is really really wrong with my cable everytime i play online i lag for 15 seconds with a 84 ping well of course it didnt lag when i bro played and right when he had to go i played and then it started lagging.... curse? the uknown? the aliens? bob (the alien bob is coolest alien!!  :D )?? lol

    C i have cable but i live in belgium, so those homelan server thingies, they are in america i guess, cus on uk servers i get ping 'bout 50-60
