But if you mean these forums, they just bought it. It uses a combination of CSS, HTML, PHP in a database.
The database being MySQL.
(Isn't this a candidate for Off Topic?)
Anyways, Dreamweaver MX > Frontpage, any version, possibly with the exceptions of how Frontpage does tables.
Frontpage also tends to favour a certain browser <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
IMO, all pages should adhere to <a href='http://validator.w3.org' target='_blank'>http://validator.w3.org</a>, perfectly. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> CSS > any IE non-standard code. (Cellpadding, bordercolor, etc)
Frontpage 2k3 isn't that bad, but I'm sure there's better.
But in all honesty, go for notepad or similar, hell of a lot easier and quicker.
As for the current menu, that was created under Macromedia Flash.
There's a whole proverbial buttload of tutorials out there, google "html tutorials" and start learning.
Its easy to learn, and you can make some pretty amazing stuff with no experience.
Cross platform support > Looks.
Not all browsers can even support the flash plugin, and some people just choose not to have it, or are limited by policy restrections from having it. For this reason I would recommend either providing an alternate non-flash nav bar, or not using flash for navigation at all. (Leave it for one-screen-only intro animations, which can be skipped.)
Still, it can be pretty impressive when used well.
I started off with it, and I will end with it. To this day, I am still using it.
Notepad FTW! \o/
With integrated PHP environment and nice clean interface.
PHP is just the way to go.
Dreamweaver is great when you come to creating those tables.
I started off with it, and I will end with it. To this day, I am still using it.
Notepad FTW! \o/ <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
ftw
I learned how to write HTML and CSS with it and I will most likly continue to use it for a long time. (Plus, I dont make websites anymore)
Don't think about using a WYSIWYG-Editor. There are already too many bad-coded websites (frontpage..) out there already <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Yea, and I HATE (that h8 with the fury of 5678987656898765678 suns) Frontpage. Had to use it in a computer class, and I was forbidden to use notepad.
Grr...
NOTEPAD FTW!
The only program I will use of Microsofts and not hate.
