    Did you activate "voice" in the options menu? Is it pluged into the correct PC slot? Do you see the voice icon when you try and use it?

    I also use a headset, check the basics first. Hooked up correctly, voice activated in your option menu. Check to see if you get a voice icon when you try and use it. It may be working but the volume may be to low.

    This sounds to me like you have one of those mobos or sound cards with surround sound. When surround sound is activated the board uses the mic port for the additional surround channels. I'd look into the sound control software that came with the hardware for how to disable this.

    I once had a problem that could be this same situation, the mic never came on until i unchecked/checked options here:
    For some reason my mic was pretty much disabled until i touched these:

    PS: No thats not my desktop colour scheme <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> , (damn saving as GIF in paint changes the color really badly, to make a smaller filesize as possible)

    EDIT: The ones highleted around in red are those i had to twinker to get my mic enabled. Dunno why i had this problem but it was an easy fix just hard to find.

    Hope this helped. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    EDIT:EDIT: Your volume control 'may' look differant than this, but its worth testing these advanced controls for bugs.

    Check for the recording options if mic is selected or not by double clicking volume; choosing options/properties from play control; switch to record control by choose recording and click ok... be sure that mic is selected and volume for mic is not zero in the record control... there is a button advanced there under volume slider of mic... Click it and activate 20db boost...

    If you want to test your voice in game; open a lan game and type <b>voice_loopback 1</b> to the console...
