<div class="IPBDescription">With No Instructions :( Help?</div> I picked up Baldurs Gate 2 today for £5 (5 discs, w00t)
but the cheap price came with a slight disadvantage...
no booklets/manuals/instructions.
I've just installed and patched Baldurs Gate 2.
Created a character (Mage) and started a new game.
I have no idea, what i'm doing, I start in a cell, get released
and then wander to my doom. I'm managed to find weapons
and equip them but my attacks on the little Imp things
seem to do no damage at all, and I can't find my spells <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Can anyone assist me or point me to a website that can?
Looks like a great game and I don't want to be put off by
stupid little imp things.

Truth.
Look along the bottom of your HUD, there should be one of the symbols there saying "Spells"(it has a crescent moon with 2 starts).
If you want some really kickass weapons, take your Thief(your girly-friend), and have her go into the room with the big golem-like trolls, and have her use "Detect Traps" to find everything, have her disable all the traps, then grab all the weapons(you'll get XP for this too!).
The reason your hits do nothing to the Imps is that the Imps have a high defense value, and your simply missing. See, in D&D, a hit from a weapon is a hit, but the LOWER your AC(thats right- the lower number you see in that shield, the better), the less chance they have of hitting you. Keep that in mind. The battles may take a while, but you will hit them eventually, just don't have your mage in front.
But I too reccomend remaking as a fighter character- its so much easier, its ridiculous.
I'm sure there was.
Did you check to see if the manual came in pdf format on the disks?
It probably will have done if it was in one of those dvd cases.

If you're interested in modding BG II for that extra *umph*
Stick with it and learn, tis a great game. As has been said before, since this is your first time, start a Fighter class - Going pure mage for your first time is very difficult. You can also adjust the difficulty slider in-game if it gets too hard.
Awesome site and will teach you must of the things you need to know about Baldur's Gate 2.
Although let me tell you this:
Play Baldur's Gate 1 before playing BG2.
And if possible even Icewind dale (though crappier and less RPG it is a bit more hack n slash and easier to get the hang of).
Other than that you're pretty stuck if you do not know the D&D rules.
Feel free to ask any questions though, I am a D&D veteran <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
