Ns_shaft

update
I’ve retextured ns_shaft (not all of it, but most, I’ll retex the rest later). I wasn’t really happy with it’s clean look so I went with some dirtier textures and the result is much better imo, I still have to shift some textures around to make it look less repetitive. Here’s the first shot, of the marine spawn. I’ve been having some trouble starting the refinery but I’ll hopefully have screens of that in a few days.

This is the generator, a node room outside the MS.

It still looks really good, and fits with the Flayra's 'NS feel,' but I still preffered the clean look. You could leave it all clean at this part, and then make the rest of the map really filthy and screwed... bit of contrast...! Or copy and paste this part and make it clean somewhere else, so there is a part with similar layout on the other side of the map for balancing the map out, but you could put the clean textures on one, and the dirty textures on the other.

I'm not suggesting copying half the map and pasting it, like they do with many TFC levels....!

But it still looks really good, well done man

It does look very atmospheric, very nice... I forgot to mention that.

Very nice. I like this feel a lot better.
Thats one thing I noticed when playing the NS maps, I really liked the atmosphere of the 'dirty' maps, while some of the other more clean ones just didnt feel as cool or real.

As you already sayed, you need to make some more textures to avoid repeating textures so much, it looks really nice.
My complaint is: Meh wants some particles in tehre!!! =D

I suppose the reason I like your original shots is because I sometimes find it quite hard to make my levels look as clinical and clean as that, I always manage to make them look industrial and dirty. In many ways, I am jealous of the original shots!

Looks utterly fantastic, Ekaj, the lighting is great, but the architecture is stratospheric. Excellent work.

And please..... don't restart this one

Well, I'm really gonna miss the older "clean" look, but those screenshots definitely seem like something that'll work, and I agree that a dirty look fits the theme of a mine shaft a lot better. It's got NS written all over it without looking too much like the other official maps. That last hallway in particular is really good -- I can totally see myself in there just completely creeped out. The lighting is absolutely spectacular there. I'm a bit concerned that it's kinda cramped, there doesn't seem to be a lot of room for players to maneuver. Then again, this does add so much to the atmosphere, and it doesn't seem much worse than ns_nothing (which works very well IMO). May be something to look at, though. Keep up the good work.

These shots look great, but dont forget too add your big crazy rooms, full of your awesome strange archetecture. Those were my favorite parts of your last map. Hopefully, we can play this map sometime in the future!

Looks great as usual Ekaj, but I still prefer the original shaft.

Ekaj, this rocks bad. I love the hallway with the humungo gold pipe above it. Reminds me of ns_caged in a way.

But like Rhoads already said, it does have its own unique look still. I definitely prefer this over the old texture/lighting theme. It just screams NS.

i like a map when i can get lost in it as a marine, then after a good minute of wandering around on my own, i freak out and get slaughtered by some chuckling skulk... thats atmosphere. looks great- the clean/dirty contrast could work...

Ekaj, it took you a few attempts, but you've really nailed it here. The only suggestion I can possibly make is to make sure the level isn't too dark in general. These shots are amazing.
