OMG WTH!?!!? i had to go sideways to read this

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->the skulk shuddered and looked beside him. towards the gorge curled up into a ball in the corner of this dark room, his eyes darted around at the walls, studying the infestation and slime oozing about, then at the window into their eyes, Those two legged things. Shuddering again he watched through the window as the two leggeds looked back in white blankets and babbling jibberish to eachother, pointing at the skulk and gorge tapping the glass now and then. The gorge in the corner whimpered as it dreamt in its sleep, maybe remembering the horrific past of their arrival here, how they came to be in this box, the skulk cringed and shook the memory out of his head. No point dwelling on the past, they were here now, in this box, being watched by these two legged things.

If only he could understand what they said, the skulk tried to focus hard on these two leggeds lips, trying to read what they said, but it was impossible. their language was different to theirs, a totally different culture and language, it would take many hives before they could understand such a chatter of high and low tones. He wanted to know why they did what they did, why they kept them in these cages, trying to feed them what they cant eat, where was the hive?. The skulk closed his eyes and tried to concentrate, when was the last time the hive called to him? he has not heard from the hive since it called it was under attack. Not since then, Is it ok? did it die? surely if the hive died, he would have withered by now, the hive was all kharaas life. Wasnt it?. The skulk looked over to the gorge and his eyes turned from frustration to pity. Surely the gorge, the one who brings the kharaa to where it is, the one who creates the hive, No one could live without the gorge, I guess the gorge is the source of all kharaas life. but what came first? the hive or the gorge?.

The gorge was the hive bearer, finding the right spot to build the hive, preparing its surroundings, building it in its location. Yes, the gorge is the key to kharaa life, without the gorge, there would be no hives. The skulk jumped suddenly and darted its head to the window where a two legged hard started tapping the window, he snarled and side stepped clumsily trying not to slip on the slime which handn't set yet, then looked back at the gorge. The gorge hadnt moved for many days it had spent the whole time shivering in the dark corner and whimpering, it seemed to mourn over the past, maybe the gorge knows whats wrong with the hive, afterall he had built it. The skulk sighed and looked about, the infestation on the walls was wetter than it was hours ago, day night? he couldnt tell, hed been stuck in this room too long, his sleeping pattern changed by stress and lack of knowledge of when the sun rose or fell. The infestation had seemed to grow alot more. Many many hours ago this box was silver, but now the floor and walls wet with infestation, the heat from the infestation brang up a musty fog, the window which the two leggeds looked through had a greenish tinge from the mould the fog created. Maybe the gorge was trying to set a hive here, but why? is it safe? what happens if these twoleggeds come in and destroy it. In a panicked rush the skulk looked over to the gorge in its corner and gave a worried call to it "not here? your not building it here?", for the first time in many hours the gorge moved.

It heaved itself lazily off the ground and turned its head unwillingly to the skulk "The only way". The skulk looked puzzled "the only way? what do you mean?" he started to dance on the spot nervously "not here why here??". The gorge stretched and looked at the gorge, its eyes not giving the bright yellowish red tinge they used to, no, now they were a dullish orange, showing he had definately cried this time, he sighed and looked to a high corner of the box "here, here is where it will go, I have thought for many hours, this is the only way, our chance to evolve and escape, otherwise we may stay here until we die". With that the gorge walked to the opposite corner where a large mass of infestation was formed, obviously to support the large weight of the hive to hold it off the ground. The skulk scurried after him and trotted beside him trying hard to not slip "is this the only way?" he argued, the gorge eyed him in an annoyed manner "i should know, you were born from one of the hives i created, I have been here before you were even spawned, This is, and will be the only way". He stopped and looked to the corner and began to spit out a mass of web, his stomach making weird sounds.

The skulk looked at the window to see if the two legged were watching. Unfortunately they had been and more two leggeds were crowded around, maybe the moves of the gorge caused them all to crowd around here. "they are watching, shouldnt you do this when they are gone?" the skulk whimpered as he looked back at the gorge, The gorge could not reply for he was spinning the hive so he just gave the skulk a glare to tell him it was. The skulk looked back at the window, the two leggeds were crowding about pointing and their mouths moving at an interestingly fast rate. Surely they planned to take the hive if they got it, the skulk snarled and snapped his mouth, his teeth clicked as they tapped the roof of his mouth. Either way he would defend the hive, The skulk eyed the two leggeds then snarled and charged at the window, headbutting the window then bouncing back to the floor snarling and clicking his teeth. The sudden action of the skulk had surprised the two leggeds and many had jumped back to the other side of the wall, others too shocked stood petrified at the sudden outburst of the skulks defensive manner.

The two leggeds seemed to chuckle at their fright from the skulk, others gave confused looks, many gave worried looks. Maybe some were scared of what could happen if the hive went up. What did happen when two hives were up? the skulk pondered. He was spawned when there was only one hive, never more, Would there be a change? Was the old hive still around? The skulk tried to keep defensive as these thoughts passed through his mind, pacing back and forth snarling at the window and prancing forwards when the two leggeds tried to get closer to the window. Making sure they kept their distance. What would happen? would he beable to change? will the hive attack these two leggeds? the thoughts turned into positive ways to escape this room, his pacing began to get faster as he thought more and more of such possibilities.

The gorge stopped spinning the web and gave a sigh of exaustion, the hive was now able to build itself, he had given enough of his recources to give the hive a boost of life. it was now all about waiting. The skulk watched as the gorge trotted over, more pleased with what he had done and his eyes now brighter with a glow of reddish yellow. The gorge ran about in circles a few times, pacing around and studying his surroundings, then eying the door he began to spray another form of web out, creating a chamber. This was a familiar action to the skulk, he had seen the gorge build this chamber before. He pranced about as the gorge built the chamber. slowly spikes grew out of the chamber and it began to move and hiss. Such a lovely chamber known as the offence chamber, it explained why the gorge was careful where he placed it. He wanted it to be in direct line with the door to attack any two leggeds who dared to enter.

Quickly the gorge ran and built more offence chambers, then running near the hive he proceeded to build some defence chambers. placing them carefully under the hive making sure not to disturb the hives growth. The hive had grown a great amount and was almost finished, its colour was coming out very well and it had started to move more, would it spawn more skulks to help?. The worries of the skulk was washed away with the excitement of the hive coming to life and creating more of his own kind. He danced more as the hive sighed, its awakening would be soon.

It had been many hours, the two leggeds now back to the window watching through it like petrified defence chambers, The skulk proceeded to charge and heabutt the window snarling, holding his defensive position to prevent them thinking of entering the room. One two legged then suddenly began to walk to the window trying to be brave, the skulk eyed him and headbutted the window, the two legged stayed still eying the skulk in a challenging manner, grinning like he was more superior, the skulksnorted and snarled, clicking his teeth. The two legged crossed his arms in an insulting pose to the skulk and seemed to dare him to try and hurt him, knowing the window would save him from the skulk. The skulk growled in annoyance and backed away preparing to take a run up to the window, maybe he could headbutt it hard enough to break through and kill this foolish two legged. Just as the skulk began to run the hive called and awoke, The skulk felt his energy rise and speed up his eyes fixed on this foolish marine, he jumped at the window.

To his surprise the force of his jump gave such a great amount of power he slammed into the window faster than he could blink and was now standing ontop of this two legged who was now under him with his claws embedded in his chest. The twolegged gasped in shock and horror at the skulks eyes, the skulk not quite sure what happened stared back in shock and disbeleif. The hive had caused him to do moves he did not even think would be possible?! The skulk looked around at the other two leggeds who were too scared to react to what had just happened, their faces whiter than the blankets they wore, staring wide eyed in fear and disbeleif. Maybe they too had under estimated the hives abilities. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

You're sentance structure isn't <i>wrong </i> but something feels a little off. However, on the whole this is probably one of the better written Khaara PoV stories that I've seen in a long time. Don't sell yourself short that was pretty good.
It also got a lot better when Monkey posted it as a quote, text files suck <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->.
