<div class="IPBDescription">Sound goes out in the middle of games :(</div> Lately when I try to play NS my sound just goes out. There isn't any set period of time that it will do it. Sometimes it will do it 30 seconds after joining a server, sometimes it will wait until the middle of a nice long match. It's getting really annoying <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo--> I'll be 40 min into a game with the belief i fixed the problem then bam, sound dies <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

When I do lose my sound, it's only in Half-Life. Outside of Half-life all my sounds work fine (aim, msn, system sounds, etc.).

Haven't had this problem until just the other day and there's only one thing i can really think of that could have caused it but i dont see how. Right before I had the problem, I installed a codec pack that ended up being a bunch of trouble. After installing that, the sound would cut in and out in movies I would watch. I dont know how the two would be related but they did both happen at the same time.

I've already tried removing and reinstalling my audio device drivers and all that, but doesn't seem to help.

Any suggestions???

I get the problem somtimes i found my shutting down anything else that was running that might be using the sound card stops it. Things like MSN, IRC, Winamp, Media Player etc.

yeah i closed everything else that might make any sounds, aim msn and all that. now i've completely reinstalled steam and ns and everything, but still the same problem exhists.

I also went through and deleted all those video and audio codecs and reinstalled only the default ones. My sound also cuts out outside of NS I discovered...if my computer is on long enough the sound will go out and the only way for me to fix it is a restart.

Hmmmm maybe it's time to format
