What Are Your Specs And Fps/ Lag? Video Mode?

<div class="IPBDescription">CPU, GPU, RAM, FPS and how laggy?</div> I am just wondering if people with similiar systems to mine get this much lag..

I am running on 640x400 on opengl.. which runs much better than d3d or software mode. anyways here are my specs:

Acer v75M Mobo
AMD K6-2 500mhz processor
256MB SDRAM 133 (max supported by mobo)
13GB HD
CTX monitor
CDRom
CDRW
3.5" disk
Visiontek Nvidia Geforce4MX 420 64MB PCI (I dont have agp)
Linskys 10/100 LAN card
Efficent Networks ADSL speedstream 5360 modem
300 Watt power supply
on board sound

OS: Windows 98SE

I seem to get really laggy in NS when there is more than 6 people, which is a huge problem right now seeing as there are only 500 or so servers and not all dedicated... before 6 people I can move normal just like in Counter-Strike or half-Life, but once there is 6.. man it's like I am on 56k. really hard to move, even harder to hurt an enemy with my body and not things I setup.

I selected 16bps rather than 32 and also in the multiplayer config turned off high detail.

Average FPS: 10 - 25 before 65 people, with 6 people : 4 - 7

I'd espicially like to know peoples who are a lot like mine... (low speed CPU)

I've seen dudes playing NS who say they're on 56k and have no lag.., but there cpues are like double or triple mine..... I think Natural-Selection relies heavily on your CPU, unfortanally my system cannot have more than 256 RAM and my parents dont hand me money.. I need a job.

So all you really need to list is the following
CPU: (say the brand, dont say 1ghz, say 1ghz celeron, athlon, or whatever)
video card: (agp or pci?)
RAM: (MB and type)
Connection: (dsl,cable,56k,t3, you know)
video mode you run NS in: (openGL, Direct3d, or software)
Resolution you run in:(400x300, 640x800, 800x600) and so on
how many FPS you get (list number of people you play with)
16bps or 32?

I am making this just so people can tell if they're getting the performance they can or should be by comparing it to others.

thanks

open gl, server runs at 85-95 FPS at 1-8 players, haven't gotten more, closed the server since the ping skyrocketed and don't really want the players to play under lag, running dignostics on it but not really finding anything. But normal FPS should be around 70 in game. but I'm also the person who's getting 40-65 fps on GTA3...

well..... i have a pentuim 3 prosesor with a geeforce 3 and about 128 of ram and i run on D3D

i think its just because that game is new give it a week or 2 and the lag and pings will all go down if you have ever player Day Of Defeat u know what i mine by high ping for the first week or 2 <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

P.S. still have 9.49 GB still free of space so that game should run fine

space left doesn't play that large part of it, try overlocking your cpu, defragment frequently, add more ram, doubt you oculd succesfully overclock your GPU but try if you're extremly desperate. but

    plenty more..

I run at 1024x768 in window mode (1280x1024 res on monitors, dual monitors) at 32bpp. I get around 50 fps, but its plenty smooth.

    I have:
    -Athlon TB 1.1Ghz
-570?mb sdram pc133/100 mix, one stick as an error
    -40gig WD
    -Audigy
    -Geforce4 Ti 4200 64mb
    -cable internet <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

I get at 1280x1024, 32bpp, 4xAA, i get 60+ (refresh limit stops fps at 60). But I've seen it when i raise the limit , it goes around 70-80.

    Its ok, could be better... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Gigabyte 7dxr+ MoBo.
    AMD Athlon 1800XP+ CPU
    ATI Radeon 8500
    512 DDR Memory
    80 GB Main HD
    20 GB Raid ATA HD
    10 GB Raid ATA HD
Cox High Speed Internet (not a spec...)

I get a solid 72fps rate, and lag varies since we all know
the servers have lag problems unless you find the distinct few that have none.

    CPU: Pentium 3 833mhz
    video card: Integrated Intel 810E
    RAM: 128mb
    Connection: Cable
video mode you run NS in: openGL
    Resolution you run in: 800x600
25-35 with pretty much any amount of players, as long as the stupids keep their flashlights off!!!!!!!!
  • UnknownUnknown Join Date: 2002-06-12 Member: 759Members
CPU: 400Mhz AMD (of some type) upgraded from a 233Mhz
    Vid Card: Voodoo3 3000 16Mb with WhickedGL
HL settings: 640x480 OpenGL mode with Mini3Dfx drivers
    RAM: 328Mb
HDs: 1 GB (~200Mb of free space. Just enough for HL swap files) (My system drive)
1 3GB (HL is installed here with most of my other games) (Really buggy and lots of HD errors)
    1 10GB (Mp3s, Videos, zips, etc)

I get ~150 ping on the server I play on.
I get ~20-40 fps at the start of a match
I get ~4-10 fps near the very end of a match (due to all the enities)

I set my config.cfg file to change my detail settings.
I set cl_pismis 1, hisound 0, and some others. (This REALLY helped)

I don't have to suffer much longer though cause I am getting a GeForce4 Ti4200 64Mb in about two weeks and hopefully getting a new computer for X-mas or somewhere near the end of January.

    433 Celeron
    96MB RAM
    8MB ATI Rage Pro
    6.4GB HD, 1GB free
    HL= 640x480 D3D right now

Performance: I have no idea. It seems like it depends on what time of the day it is. When I just walk around in a LAN game I stay around 30 sometimes, sometimes I can't get above 15. On every server I've played on(Except Nano-Gridlock where I had a fairly constant 20-30 all through one game) I range between 4 and 15. Usually 4. That regardless of detail settings or resolution. Need more RAM.

    200 Gig hd
    Radeon 9700 video card

    OC-48 pipeline

I ping about 15-20 and get 99 fps at max rez seeing as how that is the highest hl goes.
good day, and i apologize for an envy i may have inflicted upon u.
