It would seem that I'm a communist greeny based on the fact that I support education, medical care, and environmental protection for all =\

Red And Green make yellow, right? JOIN THE YELLOW PARTY TODAY!

In all seriousness though, I am surprised but at the same time not surprised. Hmmm. Still, I wouldnt take the test too seriously as you may unconciously change your actual views to fit what the test says, it's happened in psychology experiments before.

Oh, interesting note whilst on psychology. If you bring two groups with opposing views and allow them to have a discussion for say, an hour, their views tend to be more extreme then before said discussion. Wonderful isnt it?

Arawn, perhaps you forgot the fact that people can change. What a shock, eh? That maybe the drugs someone does in high school/college doesn't actually define them the rest of their lives? I don't care if Kerry smoked pot when he was a hippie. I don't care if GWB snorted a little powder when he was in college.

It looks as though you really are disillusioned. The quiz you just took simply showed you what candidates you align most closely with as far as ideals go. So, Kerry matches you best for his supposed ideals.

It's possible that he is partly inline with some of Kerry's policies, but in reality finds the man's non-voting actions to be despicable, as do I.

From dictionary.com on Socialism:

It's good But it isn't good
I only wanted to improve schools and healthcare...
[The test trys to put you into a box of "Vote Bush" "Vote Kerry" and "Vote Other"... and it does so poorly. Quickly! Tear down that test and put up a more accurate one! ]

[Ninja edit 2 - I guess you could think of "Socialism" as a term of "Wanting to improve society" which is - i guess - the main idea behind it. Too bad people corrupt such a noble thought.]

You mean like taxes, the EPA, the legal system, etc.?

I'd love an explanation of how an economic system, particularly one with the express concern of a minimum standard of human living, can be described as that.

But you're going to have to put it in another thread or PM it to me, because that's just asking for a derailing.

edit: That "popular usage" is the same way as "g**" is used by an annoyingly high number of people, particularly as an insult. Any dictionary is not a good source for topics that can't be well explained in a handful of sentances.

(edit2: for any of you who are curious, he did pm me)

notice how the "left" party, Democratic, actually nestles in with the convervative parties?
how interesting!

Your Results:

2. Cobb, David - Green Party (98%)
3. Nader, Ralph - Independent (92%)
4. Brown, Walt - Socialist Party (89%)
9. Kerry, Senator John, MA - Democrat (70%)
15. Badnarik, Michael - Libertarian (22%)
16. Peroutka, Michael - Constitution Party (11%)
17. Bush, President George W. - Republican (10%)
18. Hagelin, Dr. John - Natural Law (7%)

(I allowed withdrawn candidates, so that explains the missing numbers... oops)

74% Bush.

There's alot of questions I left unanswered for the simple reason that I think they are logically irrelevant to Presidential power or not really a federal responsibility.

Certain things like abortion are in the realm of the Supreme Court, and only in the case of a justice leaving the court is there any sphere of influence for the President, in which case the senate must approve. Keep in mind, certain justices that favor a certain party will intentionally leave under a certain presidency to make sure that someone of their political affiliation will make their way into the court. Certainly not an issue that should ever be used as a Litmus test.

Education should be left to State government. Et cetera et cetera.

I think that's an awesome idea, personally. most people vote for who they 'like' -- you'd think we were voting for Miss America or something, the person with the most charisma wins. The biggest complaint against Gore was that he was 'boring' -- I guess that should have been seen as evidence that Americans wanted some excitement, like some terrorism and a war or two; who cares about actual policy and leadership ability...

with a test like this in voting booths, we might find out what issues people actually do care about...
