    Try using the defaults, those aren't poly-intensive.

    <a href='http://www.nsarmslab.com/flash/custom.php' target='_blank'>http://www.nsarmslab.com/flash/custom.php</a>

    Then click on the thing that says download NS defaults... its on the left under the banner.

    Hmm... anyone know what kind of vid card (CHEAP) that would get around 50 fps normally? Preferably 70?

    Something like, $50 or less?

    I'm sure this would be better then onboard; But I don't know if it will be 50 fps. I am sure it will be 50 at least.

    erm i had a gf2 mx440 before i switched to 9700 pro, it sure didnt get those kinds of numbers...
    it ran decent, but not close to that good
    does yours eat babies or something, cus that must be a beast of a geforce 2...
    maybe a manufacturing error <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    anyways, you can get geforce 4's pretty cheap, cus their not in demand at all anymore, try ebay or something

    i got my 9700 pro for 100$ right on, but then i used connections to get that <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    MX440's are GeForce 4's. I had one, and got 50-80 fps in NS, and now with my 9600XT get significantly over 100 unless I do something like run at 1600x1200 with 8xFSAA and stuff.

    Ive got a geforce2 MX, and i get 100fps with not much / nothing about, and when normal amount of action 70fps. I turned vsync off, but you could keep it on as you get 70fps most of the time.

I have the MX420 and all i get is around 60 fps MAX. It wont go higher than that, not in NS/HL at least. In combat, it can get low as ~20 FPS, but i use custom models. And the resolution i use is 1024x768x32 and yes, i have newest drivers. Hm, think i could stop the whining here...

    You win.

    Get a program that you can unlock your refreshrates with for a fps-boost.

    In no way would going to bestbuy.com answer that question. Hell, you sure wouldn't find a <a href='http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1077627694820&skuId=6376183&productCategoryId=cat01151&type=product' target='_blank'>GeForce 4 MX4000</a> for $69.99 or even a <a href='http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1051826238649&skuId=5430795&productCategoryId=cat01151&type=product' target='_blank'>128 MB GeForce FX 5200</a> for $119.99. Both are PCI btw <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    If I heard/read it right, the Geforce MX440 is an upgraded version of the Geforce 2, ah found it.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->The GeForce4 MX is not a cut-down version of the GeForce4 (NV25), but actually the second revision of the Geforce2 MX known as the NV17.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    <a href='http://www.tweakers.com.au/articles/graphics/abit_mx440/page1.asp' target='_blank'>Source</a>

    But anyway, the card is cheap, and does perfect at HL!

    Man, I have a GeForceFX 5600 and I'm lucky to get a constant 30 fps in Halo... NS/HL run ok at times, but it sometimes drops to around 40. I think its time for a format... too much crap on this PC...

    My laptop's Radeon IGP is lucky to get 20 fps in NS though... Halo runs a nice 60 fps though <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> (except everything isn't "shiny")
