Cheesy's Respawn System?

<div class="IPBDescription">Where do I get this?</div> Hi, I'm OdDmor, one of the admins at EFS's Natural Selection server. We've been getting a lot of requests for a "Cheesy's Respawn System." Now from what I understand, this plugin changed the current one by one spawn system with one that is more similar to waves (i.e. several people spawning at once). Where can I find this plugin? I've been searching for a good half hour through google, not finding much.

    I know the respawn system may sound like a good idea at first, but it's not that great... games never end early and you generally wait just as long to respawn. All it does is push all the spawn times together and hold everyone back untill they are ALL ready to respawn. (Thanks to voogru for pointing this out to me)

    I still think Cheesy's system is better than the current one, if for no other reason than being less frustrating for the losing team, you don't feel so powerless getting spawncamped.

    Plus, the longer spawn times per player gives you a chance to hit the chair/hive for some xp, so it doesn't seem to make games that much longer.

    Hey i really like this mod but my server has amxx on it. Does anyone know of an amxx version of this plugin?

    it works fine simply change the include in the sma chaning amxmod to amxxmod
    and make sure you r running the amxx version of ns2amx

    ut oh i try and change the sma like u say but when i go to compile it i get error 100: cannot read from file: "amxxmod" whats the problem now?

    It may be frustrating for the losing team to get spawncamped, but that's a by-product of losing.

    It's worse for the WINNERS to feel frustrated than the losers. "Hey, I just killed 3 marines, I have 45 hp left, let me see if I can hold a spawn camp till my team mates come here.." says Jack the skulk, as 10 marines spawn on him and mash him to pieces...

    The entire gameplay is flawed. While this respawn system may make games longer, at least it makes games bearable for the average player.

    hes got a point, if your knocked off one by one its pretty annoying.. to wait and watch as pairs of 2 rines spawn and die over and over, if all of them spawn in and die then they know its defiantly a loss. This pretty much offers more closure and less fustration for the loosing team, and longer combat games are kind of fun.

    change it to amxmodx

    what error are you getting?
    type amxx list in the server hlds console what does it say for the plugin?
    are you running the ns2amx module?

    where can i get ns2amxx? i think my version isnt compatible w/ amxx and thats the problem. I looked on the amx site tho and cant find a place to dl it anywhere

    yeah now when i try and run the server the console window pops up and all the plugins and such load but it gets to the end and says "[AMXX] Module is not a valid library (file "nsp/addons/amxx/modules/addons/amxx/dlls/amxx_ns2amx.dll") L 8/10/2004- 14:28:34: [AMXX] Make sure modules are compatible with AMX Mod X v 0.16 Please fix the problem then start the problem again" this is really hard to read too cuz the console closes like 2 seconds after this pops up. any help is extremely appreciated. this is probs caused by my ns2amx not bing compatible? i dunno... thanx again


    (btw my ns2 .dll file is called amxx_ns2amx.dll is that the right one for amx modx?)

    You need to read the error message you are getting a bit closer:

    "[AMXX] Module is not a valid library (file "nsp/addons/amxx/modules/addons/amxx/dlls/amxx_ns2amx.dll")

    notice the path... It looks like you have a double amxx/ tree..

    nsp/addons/amxx/modules/addons/amxx/dlls/

    why are there two addons?

    try setting your module load to just amxx_ns2amx.dll rather than

    modules/addons/amxx/dlls/

    It appears to me that you have some pathing issues in your modules.ini..

    put the module dll in the right directory and don't overload the path in the module.ini file.

    yeah i saw that too but i ddef dont have 2 addon folders. i got addons in that is metamod/amxx in amxx is just the standard folders like scripting dlls etc. I have the ns2amx.ddl file in the dlls folder cuz the install said to put it there. I copied the filepaths directly from the installs so i think its all correct. My modules.ini file looks like this:
    ; AMX Mod X Modules; You can specify both linux & win32 modules here
    addons\amxx\dlls\amxx_ns2amx.dll

    etc etc w/ all the other ish that was already in it

    I dont know y that error has a file path like that but i dont think its due to my folder setup. They look just like the chart in the amx install manual

    i tried changing the path in the module.ini file to just ns2amx.dl and now the error says the same thing but the filepath is cut down to just addons/amxx/modules/amxx_ns2amx.dll

    oo ok i think it all works now. I moved the ns2amx.dll file from the dll folder to the modules one. The install says to put in the dll folder but maybers thats wrong? well w/e it works now so im happy
