Regarding Flaya And Who's "incharge Of Ns"

I think i remember hearing that Flaya went onto some other project and he has appointed someone(s) to oversee his mod we all know and love with a passion.

So does anyone know who these people are? I've been out of the loop for a month and don't remember reading or hearing anything about this stuff.

    Flayra still oversees and leads NS development as far as I know, however he does not do much of the coding anymore. He is busy, silently working on his next project and UWE. So, the new coders (see front page, e-th33ph and voogru were brought aboard the dev team) are busy working their tails off on B5 right now.

    Nevermind I just found this

I've been trying to work on both UWE stuff (ie, 'next game') while trying to also work on NS, and it's incredibly difficult. I know that I could never let development stop on NS though, so I decided it was time to start delegating to capable people.

    Hence, ElvenThief, Voogru, MadMaxx, etc. These guys have been in the community a long time, and they're going to do a great job. I'm still handling the design and balance, but hopefully I can do that in 10-15 hours a week (ie, keep it as a 'hobby').

    Good luck to Trauma Studios! We are both transitioning from into game companies, let's see how we do.

    PS: the guy was expecting just another reply regarding the DC mod of BF1942, but we we all like <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> Imao! To the best of my understanding, Flay has moved from coding onto a more administrative role (he's the producer, more or less). So it's not like he isn't involved, just that he's doing higher-level tasks.

    He seems like the kind of guy who'd spend his spare time playing code-monkey, though. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Nemesis Zero now has more of a role in day to day activities, as he's the 'producer'. I'm still handling the design and balance and have the overall last-say on things, but more and more everything else is taking over roles I used to have. I'm still working full-time on NS, but not for much longer. Soon I'll be working on funding for UW and will be working on high-level direction for NS on a 'hobby' basis (over the next month or two).

    I fully expect the new team will produce faster and better updates to NS then we've seen so far. They're fresh and excited, and have all been in the NS community a long time.

    Seriously, having some developer input (especially in *cough* Beta discussion) is really nice... it was a sad day when 2.0 was released and we didn't hear a peep from you or Max or Monse anymore.

    I personally am really excited to see v3.0 beta 5 released, and I hope that it's a full installer. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I certainly hope B5 isn't the last beta - this game is in no shape to be unleashed onto steam as an official game yet.

    Not necessarily. If it will be an official steam game, any problems can simply be auto updated. Also, all big problems should (I'm guessing should) be fixed by 3.0 beta 5. I still do find marines overpowered, and acid rocket is still vinagar splash, but it hopefully this will be fixed too.

    Ah, well; real-life coming first again, the project getting forgotten by the author. Usually at this point everyone can say the project is as dead as can be... Hopefully the new team actually manages to do some real changes before scattering up.

    Yes, I know; I'm a pessimist. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    By the way, is the "Team Section" up-to-date? Not sure, but isn't Flayra now only a QA-leader...? How many of those 'core contributors' are still actually active, and not 'retired?'

    Well I don't want them to pull what most mods do - put the 'beta' label on it, release it, then use the title 'beta' as an excuse to make halfassed changes. If it's unbalanced, then it's not ready for official release. Period. Fix it first. No sense in getting complacent because you can patch it whenever you want now, it doesn't make the game suck less. Everyone will end up joining and saying 'WTH THIS MOD SUCKS - TURNING AS A SKULK MAKES ME SHOW UP TO MT WTH ROFL /quit'.

    Basicaly I belive that flayra has relised that NS on the HL engine will not make him any money in the long run, even with Valves rumoured donations to UW.

    I belive that NS2 will be his next focus as he already has a fan base on which to build the game on (it would be like valve spending 5years on a new game when HL has such a huge following). I for one am totaly in favour of this option

    In the long run we will start to see UW take off and with the introduction of the BUS into NS it should help that process along.

    Anyways, what ever path he follows I will gladly follow like a giddy school girl as long as I can still slaughter the kharaa <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Slaughter Kharaa? Down with the TSA!

    Actually, I too am in support to this move. More than anything, I want to see Flayra go and evolve- if this was his first total project, something that has gained acclaim by the industry as a whole, and inspired a whole new generation of team-based games(Savage was just the beginning, kiddies), imagine what he can do on his next project, when he is funded like a real development firm?

    Thanks Flayra for providing the best game of my life, and confirming my own ambitions as to wanting to be a game designer. I only hope one day(soon) that I'll be lucky enough to work with such a dreamer.

    As for NS, I'm glad that these "peons"(<!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->) are working on it. I also hope that it does become a official steam game, updated on their systems. Beta-testing would be MUCH easier this way. Just code in something to send results to a main NS server from each game, stat them, and balance accordingly, to get it out of beta. Then again, I agree with EEK in that NS needs to get that Beta label off- its only limiting NS.
