Cloaking Doesnt Cloak?

and other oddities
I’m not sure if this has happened to anyone else and it’s only happened to me on a few occasions, but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem. At times, my cloaking just will not engage. Typically, I love to run a stealth Skulk assassin (full cloak, silence and regen). Running around the map, trailing a marine and then picking them off.
However, there have been times when I’ll hear a marine coming and I’ll run up a wall and wait for my cloaking to engage. And I’ll wait. And wait. And wait. And finally, the marine turns the corner, sees me and I’m usually dead before I have a chance to get away.
Now, I know that this isnt some kind of adrenaline time compression thing happening because I’ve been able to count to ten and my cloak STILL HAS NOT TURNED ON! It’s gotten to the point that I’ve begun to take my hands off the keyboard and mouse just to make certain that I’m not accidentally moving/causing the cloak from engaging.
Likewise, on the flip side, there have been times when I’ve come to a stop and BLAM, insta-cloak. No waiting or anything. It just flips on the moment I stop moving.
So, is there something about the cloak code that keeps a person from cloaking under certain situations or am I just having some bad luck? I’ve experienced this problem with all the alien morphs (except the Lerk, which I cant stand to play for some reason). I have no idea why I cant cloak at some times and others it’s instantaneous. If anyone can shed some light on this, I’d greatly appreciate it.

on a funny side note, i was an Onos last night, got cloaking, regenration and adr boot, i ran into the command base and into about 5 of them. i ran into a corner next to the CC and i cloaked, i guess they thought they killed me or something, even though one or two tried to camp in that corner but coulden't beacuse there was a huge **obscenity** bulk there preventing them.
anyway, they all left, so i popped out and took out the CC and respawns and three turrents before anyone cought on. i was cracking up.
Turrets will not fire at you if you are cloaked. I ususally have to get shot at for a second before my cloak activates and a second after that the turrets will stop shooting because they can't detect you. If you have regen it is very nice because the damage you took from the innitial turret fire will heal you back up. Its well worth it and when a marine hears a turret fire he either expects an attack or a lone alien running away instantly from fire. What he doesn't know is that you are only inches from a turret and wouldn't expect you there. Then you can do the commands and freak the marine out with alien chanting and gurglin noises.

Hehe, I tried that once RIGHT IN FRONT OF A MARINE, and he stopped attacking me when I vanished and walked away

This works really well if you have the silence upgrade. They'll think you got redeemed. Sooo much trickery.
