This is true, very, very true.
But Riddick is an awesome X-Box game, you'll like it I'm sure. I know I did, from start finish it's an excellent game. Best graphics out on the X-Box currently, except the fact that Doom 3 is coming out // already came out on X-Box? (not sure yet)
lol jimmeh is teh master at doom 3 i played him and he beat me like 30 kills to 4
It is not Live-enabled; there's no multiplayer component. It is Live-aware, however.
Replayability is low to moderate, IMO. There are cigarette cartons scattered throughout the game that unlock various extras - mostly concept artwork and similar features. So replay is encouraged to find 100% of the cartons. Secondly, it's just fun! It reminds me a little of Max Payne in that you're not just trying to get through the game - you're trying to get through with *style*. Sure, you could run around the corner and shoot that guard... but you could also wait for him to turn his back, and cap him in the head. Or sneak up behind him and snap his neck, or stab him with your shiv. Or climb up onto the scaffold overhead and drop on him. Or, for the win, get in close, grab his gun, and blow his brains out while he's still holding it! The point is, the story, acting, visuals, and gameplay are all good enough that you'll want to do it again once you've finished. And it's a pretty damn big game, even accepting how quickly I finished it.
Should you get it *or* DOOM3? Well, I had the choice between Ninja Gaiden and Riddick, and ended up getting Gaiden. I'll probably get DOOM3 for Xbox (PC can't handle it) before I get Riddick, as well. However, that's because I did rent it for a month and play the hell out of it (gg Blockbuster game pass) already.
Also when is Riddick out for you Skinny ?
I don't know that I've ever had a guard give up once he's seen me, though they will return to patrol patterns after "investigating a strange noise" or similar. They react to corpses not hidden away, and have pretty good hearing and eyesight. If you shoot out lights, they get nervous and use their flashlights well.
Because of the hiding-in-darkness element, it's frequently possible to get the drop on guards even after you've lost the actual element of surprise - they may know that you're nearby, but they don't know where.
I can't remember anything ever standing out about the AI, but that's a good thing -- I don't remember anything particularly cool, but I don't remember ever running into a glaring flaw in the AI, either.
And they swear like sailors. Well, no. Sailors would probably watch their mouths if their mothers were around... I don't think these guys would even do that.
Oh, and I forget which it is, but one of the generic guard voices is done by either Bender or Fry from Futurama. (:
