<div class="IPBDescription">Dumb question</div> Okay. Here's what I'm trying to do.

Natural Selection is fun 'n' all, but on my low-end machine, fighting aliens is getting a bit tough. Here's what I was thinkin'. I wanna find a .RMF file (perferably co_core) that I can slightly modify so that it'll play in DoD or CS.

If this is at all possible, tell me. If you have any links to .RMF files from Natural selection, tell me those too. So, yeah.

Thanks.

So nobody has any .RMF files from NS they could fix me up with?

Also, if what I'm asking for is impossible, it'd be nice if someone could tell me.

I dont think mappers will be giving you the sourcefile to their map...

I kind of figured as much, which is why I was thinking official maps would be easier to get a hold of.

Those are still made by mappers you know, only they have gotten their map to official status thats the only differance. Still I don't think any mapper is willing to give their source to the public.

Ah. I see. I figured there was some mappin' team out there for NS or somethin'. I guess I'll change my question then.

Is there anybody out there who could take a map they've made, put some DOD start-points and some flags? ._. That'd be neat.

If all you're doing is changing the entities, read up on ripent. And ALWAYS ask the original mapper first, before converting. You need there permission to modify their map. You don't need the source, just the final compiled version.

Dear god man, do you have any idea what you're requesting? Probably not. Simple answer: no, they won't do it. Why don't you just play normal DoD or CS maps instead of trying to port NS maps to CS or DoD (they don't even fit for these games).

I never said it had to "fit". I think that's why it'd be fun.

I'm obviously not aware of how hard this would be. I'm assuming it'd be very hard with what you're asking. Though, only problem I can see with this would be the compile time.

It'd be a matter of moving a few start points so that different people start in different places. At least, that's what I think.

there are RMFs in this thread:
    <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75590' target='_blank'>http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/in...showtopic=75590</a>

however, you should probably contact the authors first to see if they'd be ok with you using their sources.

ripent. Read up on it. You don't need the source.

The thing isn't that it'd be a problem to give the source out, it's that we don't want to for the most part. Mappers work hard on maps, and don't want to give out the source to their maps for others's enjoyment. That's why we compile them, so people can enjoy them.

You can change the entities of the maps without the source, I suggst that.

I completely understand what you're saying about mappers being weary about giving out source files. I also understand that map making takes a lot of effort. I was just assuming that a mod community would be all for promoting modifications.

I'll check out this Ripent thing everyone's talkin' about. Thanks.
