The key inputs are hardwired, so in-engine my "U" key (a QWERTY "F") registers as an "F". So my keyboard layout is still QWERTY, but for the record I use ESDF, not WASD.
In games that do support my dvorak drivers (or if HL did), my keyboard layout is:
.OEU = movement space = jump CAPS = walk SHIFT = duck Y = flashlight I = use " = last weapon
P, A, comma, and : are usually special functions depending on game. Most of my other functions are mapped to my mouse (7-function Intellimouse Explorer). Part of the problem with using a Dvorak keyboard for gaming is that sometimes games won't accept special characters (e.g. punctuation) as input, which means using . for forward doesn't work. Bummer.
Also, games with existing hotkeys (like WC3) I usually switch to a qwerty layout because my physical keyboard *is* a qwerty -- it's just the software that makes it Dvorak. Since you usually hit all hotkeys with your left hand (right hand on mouse), I can't touch-type hotkeys -- I need to look and find them. And since my keyboard is QWERTY labeled, it's kinda impossible to find on sight the Dvorak keys. ^^ So I switch to QWERTY.

i tried dvorak for a while...didn't work out so great. I even pried out all my keys from my keyboard and rearranged them to help me learn it, but it never seemed to help me that much.
Damn it... I just realized that you had the option of typing sentences. When I switch from the one minute words (averaging around 40-50) to sentences, I get an increase of about 10 words.
