<div class="IPBDescription">this is so annoying</div> ok ive tried a hell of a lot of stuff to fix this - reinstalled NS, steam etc. used "stopsound". i cant figure out why it keeps crashing. any suggestions?
the only one thing i can think of is that i use some simple scripts, i have taken them off and it does seem to reduce the amount of crashing. heres the scripts i use:
hud_saytext 0
sensitivity "6.500000"
alias toggleTalk "toggleTalk_On"
alias toggleTalk_On "hud_saytext 1; speak doop; alias toggleTalk toggleTalk_Off"
alias toggleTalk_Off "hud_saytext 0; speak doop; alias toggleTalk toggleTalk_On"
bind PGUP toggleTalk
alias ToSlot1 "bind MWHEELUP ToSlot3; bind MWHEELDOWN ToSlot2; slot1"
alias ToSlot2 "bind MWHEELUP ToSlot1; bind MWHEELDOWN ToSlot3; slot2"
alias ToSlot3 "bind MWHEELUP ToSlot2; bind MWHEELDOWN ToSlot1; slot3"
bind "1" "ToSlot1"
bind "2" "ToSlot2"
bind "3" "ToSlot3"
bind "4" "slot4"
bind MWHEELUP "ToSlot3"
bind MWHEELDOWN "ToSlot2"
echo userconfig LOADED

If you're exiting NS with the exit command, you know what to do now... If you don't, I can't help you anymore.
all of them
(hey it can't hurt)
Edit: this only happens on NS no other mods at all (or games).
If exit isnt worked try "quit"
"stopsound;quit"
"quit"
"stopsound;exit"
"exit"
thx for the suggestion anyway
What is it you mean by "crash"? Does the program freeze, or, lol, disappear and return the desktop?
(Hey, it was worth asking.)

it freezes on the main screen,
sometimes i get away with doing ctrl+esc (or something similar)
othertimes i need to do a hard reset.
note: if i manage to close it down after it has frozen my pc runs very very slow until i reset it.
i have tried disconnecting from the server first (makes no diff).
---------------------------------------------
i will try and wait a while then exit.
P4 3.2Ghz 800FSB -Northwood
HIS Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGPx8
Corsair 1Gb DDR400 (2-3-2-6)
Creative Audigy 2ZS
MSI 865PE Neo series
note: this happens on no other mods (including third party ones)
So:
Only happens in NS.
You have reinstalled NS and Steam
Reformatted HD (Damn)
Deleted custom scripts (which helped)
Those custom scripts some may still be in your config file. Have you tried moving your config file in your NSP folder to your desktop, start steam, then join NS? This will create a new config file (plain vanilla) version. Do you also have a userconfig file? If so try moving that to your desktop too (that won't be recreated tho in NSP folder).
You also could have a borked NS install prog, may want to try another site to dl or wait for beta 5. (isn't that out yet, I couldn't find it this AM).
Are you running OpenGL?
Have you every been able to play or is this something that just started?

yep all updated drivers,
i havent tried deleting the config.cfg file - but i have restored it (i made a backup copy from when i first installed it)
i'm pretty sure i redownloaded the installer (when i reformatted) off fileplanet.
i'm using openGL,
i never used to get this problem, but i've had it for a while. so maybe since beta 4 onwards - maybe since i started using the scripts. whenever it did start it only used to crash mabey once a week (so i thought "no big prob"). before i reformatted, it got pretty bad like every other time it would crash. now its a lot less but it still happens about once a day or two.
TBH, when i disabled the scripts i probably didnt give it enough time (only a few days). i just cant stand not being able to fastswitch weapons using my mouse wheel.
