I totally agree, especially cartoons can be very retarded (just stating it..)

About the game, is that postal?

Ahr, I remember when all this were fields.

How far back are "the old days"? I remember the original Postal on the Amiga (I think it was). That must have been around 1990, maybe earlier. That was...gory, too. A rubbish game, but gory. Cannon Fodder was a bit shocking, too, although not to the same extent, and that would be earlier, probably.

As for cartoons - try going back and watching He-Man, Thundercats or (especially) M.A.S.K. with a straight face. Go on. I dare you. You'll be surprised at the naffness.

I still want to know why they don't just simply import and sub Japanese Super Sentai. They'd rather made a new crappy powerranger and cut and paste Japanese clips.

It doesn't make sense. They cost more money, the show sucks now, the audiences are in for the mecha anyway.

Transformers appears to be alive and well since there is a new Energon series airing in the US. Cant say much though since I havent seen an episode =\

Too bad they dont air that stuff in the downunderverse. All we get is Pokemon clones

I agree. The media has pretty much gone to hell. You can hardly turn on TV without seeing something that involves sex, blood, or cursing. All the awesome cartoons like Transformers, TMNT, and Megaman all got the boot to make room for shows like the Powerpuff Girls and Jimmy Neutron. WTH? Why doesn't the media take the old stuff and put it back on. It's been so long since any of us have seen something decent, and I think that there would be a lot more TV watching from the younger portion of america if some decent, clean shows came back. It's time for some change.

well, sex and violence don't make a show, game, or movie BAD; the problem just comes when producers think sex and violence automatically make something GOOD...

but actually, I think censorship is what makes entertainment -- even violent entertainment -- bad... if you give people freedom to choose what they watch and play with, there will be a market for violence and sex but also one for more "wholesome" entertainment... instead, with excessive censorship, everyone is either a slave to the rules, watering down what they produce, or trying desperately to get around the rules for the sheer purpose of slipping an extra boob or decapitation into a movie or game...

the 70's were a golden age in filmmaking, and also a pretty violent era... taxi driver, the godfather, etc... if only we didn't get so conservative...

anyway, I miss Pee-Wee's Playhouse

the game, the one i saw on the news, unless postal 1 has amazing graphics, better than hl's, i dont think so.
you were i serial killer and you got jobs breaking and killing/raping ppl, not neccassarly my kind or a "normal game"
if the media can be normal, like the way it used to be, i wont pirate software anymore, i hope that can get in the heads of thos **** wipe companys up there.

You're probably thinking of Night Trap, a game that came out around 1993'ish and was distorted more by the media than DOOM was during the whole Columbine thing.

You did not play as a rapist, you played as like a security officer or something watching some college sorority girls on survillance cameras and the object of the game is to keep them from getting raped/killed. However the media just started making things up and the game was almost made completely illegal. There wasn't even any nudity in it. People just freaked out because it was one of the first games to use Full Motion Video (FMV), which was supposed to be the wave of the future at that point in time.

Ever stop to consider that maybe you're all just emotionally attached to these cartoons and video games of your childhood and nothing else can compare to them because they were your first?

Gotta agree with rob. Ren & Stimpy was pretty vile, but I loved it. Also, Spongebob is amazing for a new cartoon considering it has a lot of the old writers from Rocko and all that. Going downhill now though. Hell, Rocko even rocko was sick too. Chokey Chicken? Come on. Don't make all old cartoons seem innocent. Well... if you classify that as old I mean.

Edit: Also, in one ep of Rocko, they're all sitting around a table playing a game called Spank the Monkey.

In the U.K on Sky 621, the "Teen Titans" are my choice of cartoon, and probably the old Transformers, the one with Optimus Prime, isn't that good. I hate it.

On the question on Games, I do find they are slowly deteriorating in quality. They always hand out copies of the same game but different character names and the actualy Game Name. For example, and this is in my own opinion, I thought Dynasty Warriors Series was a good game to buy, but then they came out with Samurai Warriors? Am I missing something or did this game just turn nationality and present the same objective in the game?

What I go for now is Racing games and probably Grand Theft Auto, none of that "Oh look, they released this cool game, let's be retards and just change the name of it and sell it to some idiot looking for a cool game."

If you want to make a good game, have some thought not some time on the toilet.

OPTIMUS PRIME OWNS YOU.

That being established, Games are getting better, in my opinion. I'm lokoing forward to Halo 2, HL2, The Sims 2(Don't mock me, Starving/burning/drowning the little bastards is fun.), The Movies, and Evil Genius. Sure, most are rehashes of the same genre, but the thing is, they're getting better. Each will showcase improved (At least I hope so) gameplay, graphics, replayability...and so on.

The media is going downhill. No doubt about it. Objectivity? No such thing. In america, you get liberal news or conservative news. Or you can be like me and watch "The Daily Show", and get cynical parodies of news.

INCORRECT!

It's should be

OPTIMUS PRIME OWNS US ALL!

and alternatively

ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO OPTIMUS!

Sorry, had to slip that one in there somewhere

Has anyone seen the Energon series of Transformers though? Is it any good? Whats it about? Is it a rehash of G1 or is it a continuation of it?

*Gasp* How dare you say that! Of course we are not emotionally attached to these cartoons...

But really we just love them becasue we did grow up with them, yes, but they are also good cartoons. They don't involve 3 little girls saving the world from he likes of an evil monkey and a she-male devil.

If anything, I'd say the biggest loss to TV since my childhood was probly the old WB cartoons. You know, Freakazoid, Animaniacs, Pinky And The Brain, etc.

Those were just great shows, and they were enjoyable on many levels (heck even my dad still missed Animaniacs), but they aren't shown anymore. It's sad.

Bloody hell I didn't think anyone else watched Reboot...

But yeah, I watched all the cartoons of the past, being a child of the 80's - Thundercats, Transformers, Dangermouse, Trapdoor and all the other kids shows that were out at the time. The with the coming of the 90's I like AYH turned to WB's newly found insanity in the form of Tiny Toons, Animaniacs and Freakazoid and miss them as much as I miss the early stuff.
These days I'm a lapsed Powerpuff Girls fan but due to work don't have time to watch much of anything. Roll on the winter and shorter shifts.
