<div class="IPBDescription">Annoying if ur sneaking up on someone</div> Hi,

I've been looking for a thread that handles this, search tuned up no results. Don't say i didn't try.

Okay,
When i play a nice game of NS, it often happens that you have to rely on sound to indicate your enemy's whereabouts. So, you heaar the enemy's close, you're all tense, waiting for the sound to reach the corner...and then...OUR HIVE IS UNDER ATTACK...you get shocked <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> ...leap too early <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif' /><!--endemo--> and <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo--> get shot...

Similar cases can be found. It would be nice if you could lower the announcement volume, or disable some of them. I don't care if a teammate gets attacked, especially not in CO. Is there a way to disable some of those sounds?

Greetz,

Virushunter

the only thing i can suggest is to make a request for quieter original sounds in the ns customization forums.

"lifeform under attack" , the most obsolent part of ns.

not unless you wish to be called a lamer...

my suggestion is to replace the sound with another one... much like putting "ambient fan noise" in the "our hive is under attack" sound slot.

by far not lame, but far from the defaults.

And i always thought people remember annoying things better...

Missed ur post while posting mine.

So replacing original sounds won't cause any problems when i try to connect to a server (with anti-cheats on?)?

it *would* if sounds and sprites were checked... but to my knowlage, they remain un-scanned by consistency

Sounds are checked, but everything in the /hud folder is not checked, which is where al the 'under attack' messages are stored.

Open up the sound file with a sound editor and just reduce the sound a little bit. There are plenty of trial versions of these types of software around..
