so I think it will work out fine.
On a side note, the argument has been made that since this was a server admin option, it wouldn't be a big deal. Well, just to state the overlooked, I had custom models, could play on every server. Then some servers started enforcing mp_consistency one. Considering that I couldn't use my custom models on some servers and just use the defaults on others, I had to change my beloved models just so I could play on all servers. Same with scripts (the way I THOUGHT it was going to work). My config doesn't change with every server so I would be limited to what servers I could play on. So this one harmless little command would of cut my entire ns world in half. Since most experienced players use scripts, that would create two entirely different ns communities. One for the mainly new players and one for the experienced. So when one of these new players joins a scripted server, most people there would own him and thus making the divide even larger and scipts more hated.
Heh, it's late so if I am off topic plz forgive me. It doesn't matter anyway from what I have heard. With these changes, scripters can adapt so there won't be this divide.

But people don't get a choice, the server admins do.

That's right, folks. It fire's once for pressing your mouse key, and once again for lifting your mouse key. Saves your mouse some wear and tear, and still requires you to push it. It's not an auto pistol, you do have to press mouse1 just the same, but you can fire your second shot by holding it down and then letting go when you choose.
And just to destroy the myth- There's NO SUCH THING AS AN AIM SCRIPT.

And servers like "The Hampton's" didn't do this already?? Sure you didn't need a different config, but it to an extent divided the community some...
I am an experienced player, and don't use scripts at all.. ever (one minor change I'm learning bhop for my own education and have mwheel bound atm but generally don't)... I know many other PT's and expereienced folks who don't use them either. And guess what, I welcome the day that I'll play on a server and no-one bunny-hops unless they are that good. I welcome the day that I can feel like the playing field is a little more level.
This is my opinion and as such I'm excited about this change.
CAL isn't going to run with it, I'd say 80% of servers won't run with it, and the servers that do will gain their own little communities which isn't a bad thing.
So not sure what all the fuss is about.. People generally have 3-4 regular servers they play on any ways, so if one of those decides to disallow scripts, then find one to replace it. It's not going to be as bad as everyone thinks.

scripting is a really minor issue in comparison to other prominent issues and bugs in this game
CS has those buy scripts (never liked cs really). I'll name a script from CS hardly anyone complains about. A spectator script which causes you to fake join a team and you teleport all around the map where the Camera's are. Which also when a new round starts gives you a chance to buy weapons and shoot people. NS has nothing this evil for anyone to really complaing about. I would be more worried about cheaters than scripters any day.
TFC you see tons and tons of people bunnyhopping, you're not complaining about that are ye? No.
DOD I hardly play and im sure there are scripts for it also.
7 years it takes these people to finally go on a Crusade to kill scripts. Maybe they should quit Half-Life and go play Pong or Tetris.
a) the fact that people are fighting so hard to get rid of scripts
b) those that are fighting to keep scripts swear every other post they can play just as good WITHOUT them

Basically without the BH script im still as good as I will ever be. Marines I use a simple crosshair and Insert for my fast shooting pistol. Which is still just as fast as a script (pistol script).
Now I have to relearn all of this stuff that I just mastered...
