What does that mean? It means it wont be all bug fixes, but mostly bug fixes. There will be some balance changes involved, but not very many.

/edit: some of the balance changes we need are 10 more armor for skulks, and more powerful onos.

I don't see what people have against bug fixes. There comes a point when you have to stop and say "Look, we're making all these balance changes, but the game is adversely affected by all these bugs we've been neglecting in favour of balance changes."

I fully agree with Nem... bugs should ALWAYS be a first priority.

It's true. You really need to know how the game balances when it's running as intended before you go making changes. What if the knockback changes weaken marines in the next build? It's nice to know that and balance appropriately instead of balancing first and then fixing the knockback bug and finding that you've made marines incredibly weak.

The current parasite is already insta-hit (Called hitscan), and as far as I can tell, has an infinite range; just the other day I managed to parasite a marine that was so far away I could barely see him (Down a hallway and across a large room)... So if it's not infinite, it's far enough already.

As for removing damage and lower energy, I disagree with you on one of those two things. I agree that the damage should be removed, as it serves no purpose. However, the energy should not be decreased. Parasite is not a replacement for Scent of Fear, and one alien should not be able to permanently keep parasites on all marine players. If you're going to parasite a marine, considering how powerfull it is, you should have to work at it. It's already almost too easy to parasite someone.

We wait fricken ages for a changelog and it finally comes and marines get even MORE powerful, crap that's been broken for ages is STILL broken, and the stupidest changes ever devised are STILL in the game. I suppose I should be thankful though, this is pretty much the first changelog we've seen where aliens didn't get nerfed even MORE.

you know, i have never ever seen an enthusiastic post from you about anything besides the time you were asked to join the dev team... oh wait, that never happened. cheer up and be glad that a patch is coming, and get it out of your head that the dev team owns you anything, they don't.

Well, they did make this a public game, it makes since that they implement what the public wants...

But, they really don't owe us anything.

I hope it too, but it doesn't really matter; downloading Tribes 2, HL Firearms, and HL2 mods are in the horizon. It means that a regen onos being shot by 3 turrets will maintain full armor, rather than slowly losing it for when marines finally arrive.

Anyone know if the gigantic huge bug that allows players to crash the clients of those around them in game is being fixed? Because that is just begging to be abused.

I saw that in the bugtracker a bit ago, before they classified it as private. It may or may not be fixed, the most we know is that the devs know it exists.

Info on the bugtracker: it is not exactly a dynamic changelog. It includes bugs in the game and a few SMALL feature requests (like showing jetpacks on the scoreboards, like heavies). Larger features either aren't shown there or they are classified private, but either way we can't see them. The bugtracker really is for the devs, not us, but we are allowed access to see if certain bugs have been reported already.

And people forget that they are getting much more than what they paid for in this case. It's a simple and necessary reminder that the people working on this are human, and have put more time, money, and effort than required (Well, basically none was required). If their work does not meet up to the standards of someone, then that someone can take a hike.

does no one see what i see in this?

    hello....knockback died?

that radically alters rine gameplay. i mean, rambos just got kicked in the teeth. hard. thats good tho. will be nice to bite a rine and not have him fly halfway cross the room to blow my face off. some bugs alter gameplay in ways they were never meant to. knockback is one of those.

    gameplay will change.

I believe knockback is a feature and not a bug. Afaik it's just a reduction to knockback when the marine is hit while in the air.

You could be right; according to entries in the Bug Tracker, several corrections seem to have "adverse effects" in the pre-builds of beta 5 (i.e. gestation anomalies, Jetpack momentum issues, Heavy Armor oddities, Welder RoF and healing amount, bilebomb.mdl and acidrocket.mdl usage, etc.).

    It probably isn't delayed.

Remember b4? For me it came out at about 11:30 PM on the day it was supposed to.

Flayra lives in california, so (not sure) the sun is probably still up for him, and it is still thursday. So, dont be surprised if it comes out really late friday (I'm saying friday because its still 11:37 here in michigan).
