Gamma Problem

<div class="IPBDescription">having some gamma problems with NS</div> Well, as the topic suggests I am having trouble with gamma being WAY too dark.
I know it is supposed to be dark in some areas but most of the maps are absolutely pitch black.

Now, I have adjusted my gamma out of game.

This worked for regular Half-Life, as well as Counter-Strike. However It doesn't not work with Natural Selection.
After looking through alot of stuff I have determined there is something that overrides this gamma adjustment.

I was just wondering if there is somehting I can do to avoid this automatic adjustment.

Well, I believe there is an "env_gamma" that automaticly pitches teh gamma ingame for any map, to that of the mappers liking.

    <b>My Solution:</b>

I went via graphicscard color correction, put brightness up to a decent level, then pithced contrast down a lil, this will give the game a lil more blend look, but u will see -all- dark corners and I prefer this infront of pitch black, more nicly looking maps, since as an alien, u should have been given some darkness-seeing ability, which u dun have, so I prefer seeing everything and hide there, instead of standing under spotlights =/

Others have reported the same thing, even though NS's overbrightening normally makes the maps 'lighter', not darker. Some people with this issue have also reported that installing the very latest detonator drivers for their nvidia cards fixed this problem. This is only a potential solution if you happen to have an nvidia card of some kind though.

No, I have an ATI Xpert 128.
It's not the best vid card but it still works.

i have a dark monitor and so for any hl based game i have to use the nvidia options to turn the gamma up! this works fine on every other hl mod!!
but NS seems to do something to it! is there a way to turn what NS does to it off?? because it screws my **obscenity** up and means i cant turn gamma settings up nemore!!! <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
