  Dont use the desktop shortcut, either start ns using the start menu or the ingame 'custom game' option, theres a bug in the desktop shortcut.

  go into filters and tick the 'are running game' bit... choose 'ns' next to it and it will show only ns servers once you start the filter

  To run the game from the desktop icon, make sure you fill in the "Start in" box and put in your Half-Life dir. It won't work otherwise.

  mmm .. tried what you all suggested , but still doesnt work. it detects ns and everything, but when
  i try using the filter to filter to only ns games, it says 0 players online and no ns games come up.. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

  Get the <a href='http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/' target='_blank'>All Seeing Eye</a>. Much better than the HL browser.

  I second using ALL SEEING EYE. I didn't even bother to play the first time using the in-game browser. ALL SEEING EYE has NATURAL SELECTION as a mod in it's own place, and even has the proper icon for it. Very top of the line.

  Did you make sure to hit "Update" after you turned the filter on? I sometimes forget to do that.
