The first time I played was at the end 2002/start 2003... And I think I didn't slept from the whole night after it...

Walking around like in a normal FPS (Was comming from DOD), Saw some darkfigure fall from nowhere in my face as an ugly skulk and biting me... Made me jump so far off my chair there is still a hole on the ceiling.

1.03. It felt really weird and new, unlike any other game or mod I've played.

I joined about the time of 1.04, when I saw the game for the first time at my friend's house. I fell in love immediately.

My first impression with an Onos had to be the most memorable impression for me. The Marines were suffering crippling losses, though we still had most of our tech due to our ability to hold our only Resource node at our base. Fades were keeping pressure on us, slaughtering anyone who dared move out of our only holding. Lerk Spores also made it hard to hold our bearings, but the real trouble didn't start until two lumbering Rhinoceri thundered down the hall towards us. Our machine guns thundered back, but all the ammunition in the world could not put a dent in these beast. Fleeing was a practice in futility, as it seems the instant our back turned to our foes we would have forfeitted our lives. One by one soldiers fell, and hundreds of res invested in structures were shread to fragments. Shortly after, we all congradulated each other on a game well played. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

My first game i join a round half way through and the marines were pinned down in Fusion hive. The aliens had cargo lamed up beyond siege distance and the marines had full tech. I joined and got an HA straight away and it was a frantic 60 minutes battle against lerks, fades, gorges and skulks. The aliens won by wow it was the best thing i experianced game wise. I think i played 15 hours straight and i was in love with the game <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

November 1st, 2002. My first match was pretty awful, actually. I joined a game on tanith as a marine, stuck in MS at the end of the game with both exits blocked off by WOLs. I thought it sucked.

Back in the very first release, things were crazy. I think I played marine first. We were SCARED TO DEATH waiting for a skulk to pop out at any minute and kill us. And those fades. The acid! It BURNS!

Don't even get me started on the first onos.

The first time i played natural selection was in 1.04. About 1 month after the 1.04 release. I played ns_hera and we relocated to the fabled Holo room. We were marines and i was scared to venture away from base because i didn't know the map and i was a bit daunted by the little dog things. Then to my ears i heard a voice, i never played any other half life mod so i didn't know voice communication existed in half life. So yeh, that was my first experience in ns.

Also, on my first Onos encounter; I can't remember what map it was, but there was a vent whose exit dropped directly into Marine Start. Half the team for a majority of the map was busy placing mines near this exit and generally acting with an air of fear and paranoia, as Skulks would randomly emerge. It was awesome.

my first impression of NS waht during Beta3 v. 4 I remember it was I think bast (not sure any ore) but me and 4 other guys were wandering around looking for trouble, 3 guys were infront adn me and oen other guy were roughly in the back. I gave a quick glance around jsut in time to see a skulk (I didn't know what it was at the time) jsut barely exit my view. I shrugged it off thinking I was seeing things. then moments later I hear teh chuckle coming from the vent, again being a noob I assumed it was from the comm sicne there was alot of comm activity. the 4 other guys tensed up some of them turning to the vent while teh otehrs kept looking forward.

we continued moving on (abiet more carefully) continuing down teh hall with 3 guys infront I was in the middle and the other guy was at the back, two chomps was all it took and the guy at the back was dead. It seemed I was the only one who noticed I quickly turned around to look back jsut as I turn around all I see if a skulk leaping at em not 3 inches from my face, I died simple as that , the 3 other guys were ambushed by 3 skulks 2 from the back adn one from teh front when there backs were turned. deffinately something you don't see everyday.

It was when I joined a server and started playing. It was ns_nancy it seemed rine start was somewhere else. I was pressing e on everything wondering if it did anything. After that server went to another server with a armory heal plugin. Went to aliens and ran around the walls. Then went gorge <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> . They nicely said "<name> Get off gorge" then after a few spits and healing spray I went skulk again. Then lerk. Then went to rines. Then someone says to me you see this welder right here *holding it and using it in front of me* and you see this res tower right here (In rine start) . Weld it. Then I used the welder to weld the rt! First impressions was mainly how it was dark, the sounds , detail , how it seems like starcraft first person (At that time I was really played starcraft alot) and stuff.

I felt like NS was FPS starcraft. Man, I joined in the game and I had some knowledge on how to play (gogo cl_autohelp 1 !) and left marine start. As soon as I looked down the hallway three onos came charging through. I ran sooooooooooooooooo fast it was ridiculous. I had a mic too, I was screaming like a madman "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!" It was great.

Heh. First time, to my unluckiness, I ended up on the Aliens side. First thing I did was right click and find the "Gorge" button and I said, "What's a Gorge" so obviously I went gorge, and then everyone was like, "Dude, get off gorge" but I didnt know how, so the admin /kill'd me. When I respawn, I apologized, explained it was my first game, and the first reply I got was..."Wow a polite noob! lol"

And that's about all I remember. I basically felt good because no one flamed or bashed me, I felt accepted to join into the ritual, as long as I understood that the Gorge was some kind of sacred creature that I couldn't become. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

First time i played (1.0) was at a lan with 3 people and nobody had played it before, so i went aliens and decided it was cool because it had aliens. Then i decided it was very buggy so i went home and it became the second game i ever played online (first being AoE2)
Then when i played online the first game went for 1.5 hours and had 32 players with the aliens having 2 hives and a whole bunch of jetpackers flying around in viaduct firing grenades everywhere with constant action 400 ping and an fps low enough for me to count each frame, and from that day forth i decided cs was lame and i hated it.

Since 1.0, thought it was buggy, laggy, strange, inbalanced, weak, and ultimately cool. I've stuck with it (NO REGRETS!) ever since.

First game of NS was about a week after it went public. Joined a game in progress in ns_nancy, got onto Marines (because autohelp said it was easier to start playing as Marines <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->), and jumped into command nearly immediately (I like FPSs). Apparently, Marines had 900+ resources, so winning wasn't too hard. The server crashed on mapchange (something I grew used to over the next couple of weeks).

One of my friends showed me the game and i played CS back then (regrets).
And then i like the system of the game and a war between marine and aliens.
However, my first game of ns was on 1.xx version, i dont have good memories from back then, but i was alien gorge and build some chambers.
But the game wasnt serious because no one know how to do..

I played with 3 friends I knew from others games. We went 2v2 on a private server and was shown how the game worked. I went marine first, and they proceeded to show me all the aliens. Problem was they didn't tell me anything about the aliens first, so I was completely surprised (I screamed like a little girl when they did something I didn't expect). Skulks were ok at first, I was a little shaken when I saw the first one. Then about 3 minutes in one came around the corner, stood there for a moment, then leapt across the room at me (ns_eclipse). I wet myself immediately. Later on I saw a fade ("WOW WTHS THAT!!") and my first onos encounter was a cloaked onos ("GG NOT TELLING ME THEY HAVE AN ELEPHANT, AND ITS FREAKING INVISIBLE"). Shortly afterwards I was pubbing on the Hamptons, so the super scary factor quickly wore off (awe at how a fade could blink around marine start for 3 minutes set in).

It was 1.0. The game was released a few hours ago. I joined a server quick as I could, and I ended up on bast as a marine. At first I was blown away at how killer awesome the game looked, then I realized that my ping was through the roof and a half. Anyways, my first game kinda stunk, because for the most part we didn't have a comm, and when we did, they didn't know jack all. But I remember my next few matches after that.

It was ns_nothing next, and this time we had a comm who knew what he was doing. He was actually pretty damn good at that. Heck, I bet he's one of the better comms out there today, but it's so long ago I don't remember his name. Anyhoo, I met up with another guy from these forums on that server (Llama something or other was his name, I don't remember it fully) and since we had some idea of what to do, we stuck together the whole time. That was fun, and a good way to start off my NS career.

I don't remember specifically my first game but I do remember hearing about NS. I visited the site and the previews were really cool but it wasn't out yet. I figured it was going to be yet another of those mods that have great artwork but can't produce anything, or what they do produce is just crap. When it came out however I saw it was the real deal and was as great as I was hoping it would be.

"Why is this map called 'Nancy' ?"

Everything was very impressive, but my entire Marine team was terrified of leaving the Bridge because there were weird noises and sudden death outside. I was excited to finally be playing, but I so scared - terrified - of what was out in those dark corridors that we all stayed behind the laser tripwires of the original mines.

That fear, that apprehension that hangs in the air down every dimly-lit hallway is still what makes NS such a great game. There's no multiplayer game out there that's scarier. It was true the first week the game was out and it's true now.
