Why Not Allow 2 Commanders?

GanavGanav Join Date: 2002-11-03 Member: 6770Members

Hard to focus on everything at once
Have a primary commander, who calls the shots, and a secondary commander, who can use a second chamber. Both commanders have full powers and share resources, but if the secondary doesn’t listen, the primary command can boot him. If the player don’t like that, vote out the primary.

I know when I’m commanding and working on one spot, I wish I had another commander who could help the person who needs ammo or health.

Mabey even have the primary commander set a %% that the secondary gets, so if they set it at say 20%, the primary commander gets 80 rescources for every 100, and the secondary gets 20 for every 100.

The sides are even now why do you want to unbalance Natural Selection?
  • GanavGanav Join Date: 2002-11-03 Member: 6770Members
Dont think its really a balance issue at all, just ease the frustration of commanders.

One commander builds a turret. The next one thinks it sucks and recycles it. But the first one builds it again. The second one deconstructs it. They get mad at each other and try to vote the other off. The marines have no idea what to do.

I dunno, I just think 1 commander is good enough.

The game with 1 commmander is more better than with 2,.. they would be too many problems with 2 commanders, but with1 commander they should make the alarms better(eg. if the marines are atacked there should appear a kind of an arow on screen which show where they are attacked),...

2 commanders is unnessesary on smaller servers as well. It also is a balance issue becuase one can concentrate on giving weapons and the other can help people in battle. That is a balance issue.

    2 commanders = Bad idea.

A commander who knows what he is doing can easily lead the team to victory. A good commander ignores the typical "OMG!! I need HA & HMG ASAP!!11 Stupid S**T" and rather has full control of where troops should be and how to proceed. I have played as marines a couple of times with a really good commander and you get that feeling that he is just reading your mind. He knows excactly the important points of the maps and how to go about.

2 commanders would result in even more chaos and frustration IMO.

Yeah, the idea of two just would not work. There would be too many disagreements. In times of war it's better to have a centralization of power, not long democratic process.

I could see soldiers abusing this alot.

    1. Jump in the spare command pod.

    2. Spawn a weapon and armor for yourself.

    3. Jump out and pick it up.

    4. Ignore the commander's swearing over how you just blew their entire battle plan with your greedy weapon whoring.

I started to go commander and still are, and I can say when u're really knowing everything and paying attention you can easily manage to do everything yourself.

Asking for 2 commanders is like asking the game to be ruined by llamas, or having the aliens always lose.

1 commander is good enough, if he's a good commaner.

That's why you don't just choose anyone on the CC seat... you choose a good and wise one.

I had commanded a few times and things are not quite terrible. Sometimes I miss a few soldier calls but usually they stick together so it all works out.

The problem is not to get them too separated. That should settle all problems.

I guess there could be unit leaders, people assigned by the commander to hold onto and maybe be able to give commands to a few players under him. It'd help reinforce the fact that marines need to stick together, not just get heavy weapons and armor and go on a pwning spree.

You don't need an interface for unit leaders, just listen to what they say.

Was commanding, 12 people on the team, 2 of my marines were acting as in feild commanders(they had mics) to groups of 5 by keeping the soldiers togather and moving, the last 2 marines that didnt go with them got stuck on defense and building. My point here is that it helps A TON to have some marine(s) send everyone off togather on an assault and rally them. Also I only had to listen to them to know when they & their group need health/ammo/etc, I just gave them a room location and they did the rest.

    P.S. We owned that round.

In my opinion, I like it with one. That's part of the thrill about it... although some times I get really frustrated as commander cause my guys don't listen to me and die and as a result we loose a resource node. Oh well it does get hectic, but that's the fun with it, if you can't multi-task then don't be commander or download some bots and learn how before trying on real people. Please DON"T ADD A SECOND ONE!!! that's my opinion.
