but whine that its never in the store...
If you want to buy yourself a legitimate copy of DOOM or DOOM 2 (which is not abandonware/freeware/etc despite whatever false rumors you may have heard) then head over to Best Buy. They have Ultimate DOOM, DOOM 2, and Final DOOM all in one bundle for $15 + there are some doom 3 trailers you've probably already seen.

So now you nubs have no excuse. :P

It may not be much normally, but me and a friend down the road used to play Plutonia co-op, and it was pretty awesome.

    Especially that big city-like level.

    On Ultra-Violence.

    Cyberdemons everywhere.

It was a final cash-in. Basicaly 2 mod groups made addon levels, id bought them both and threw them together in one last attempt to milk the franchise. No content was actually made by id and the game is pretty much the bastard child of the series, much like the horrid horrid asstacularness of Snake's Revenge (which has nothing to do with Metal Gear).

Now lets never mention either one again.

I got that Doom Collection CD pack aaaaages ago. Good buy, and iirc it uses Doom95 basically.

    Twitchers of the world rejoice!

Besides, some of the Doom II levels themselves were no works of art...

...And Final Doom was a damn sight better than "Maximum Doom", which was simply a bunch of totally random third party wads downloaded at random from the 'net with no playtesting...

    YES!

Ever since I heard about the secret Wolfenstein level in Doom 2, I've always wanted to get it, but never could!

    Behold! My first released maps!

Bog-standard Doom 2, but pretty decent.

Now the truth comes out. DOOManiac is not really DOOManiac but IDmaniac!

To hate a game simply because it wasn't made by ID... SHAME ON YOU! Some of the maps in Final Doom are better than others, but many of them are better than anything in Doom 2, and some of them are pure genius, like the one that has you running away from an army of Arch-Viles in a giant maze. Of course, you wouldn't know what I'm talking about, because you didn't even play it!

Nein. I didn't like Final DOOM because it sucked. :P

At least the first few levels of it sucked. Didn't bother to continue with it...

And for the record, almost everyone else thought it sucked too. Don't make me go dig up magazine reviews...

Why would you NOT want to own DOOM 2? Are you MAD!???

Would you not want to own Super Mario Bros. and instead only ask for a screenshot of 0-0?
Would you not want to own a copy of Metroid, but instead only want a screenshot of JUSTIN BAILEY?
Such a travesty is.. is... diabolical!

You have a pretty warped sense of history, DOOM. I remember the reviews. Just about everybody with a magazine or website gave it a good review, but it recieved a bit of flak for being Doom (apparently Duke3D was the "future" and Doom was already "dead").

Any way to get the mouse working under xp for doom95? It would be kind of a pain to use a joystick, the keyboard only or a controller pad, wanna try some cheesy levels I made a long time ago(you know the maze with a million doors and 5 quadrillion enemies kind? ).

You can use Doom Legacy to play all the Doom games in higher resolutions, using OpenGL, Mouselook, and some other stuff.
