<div class="IPBDescription">great for when you're alien and are lost</div> Blueprints:

<a href='http://www.lucidix.net/ns/bast.jpg' target='_blank'>Bast</a>, <a href='http://www.lucidix.net/ns/eclipse.jpg' target='_blank'>Eclipse</a>.

(more will follow)

The image is has a resolution of 300 DPI.

to print it on paper:

- open the .jpg in photoshop.
- go to the "image" menu, "image size".
- under "document size", set width to 8, (height will adjust automatically) and resolution to 300.
- go to the "file" menu , "print with preview". make sure it looks right, then print.

I tried to make a PDF out of it (for easier printing), but so far either the image quality has been crap or the filesize has been rediculous.

    Cool -- great work. I'd print it, but I think I'm finally getting the hang of the map layouts <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    well, you do spawn at one of the hives, and it'll let you know which one, too.

    I love you.

    Where did you get this? Could you make more? Of the other maps?

    Man, that's awesome! The only thing I should point out is an issue with the computer core hive -- The way I did the infestation on the ground to reduce polycounts and overdraw involved nulling the floor faces below the infestation mounds, so those areas are effectively 'dropped' from the map. Those aren't accounted for in this.

    Aside of that, though, I think it's a really cool layout and it's awesome you chose to do Eclipse first. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Oh, one other suggestion... Might not be a bad idea to add some shading to the inside portions of the map to prevent people from flipping things inside out in the central areas. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Indeed I did. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I just printed out this layout and put it on my wall. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> (not that I need to learn the map, mind, but it's just a nifty little thing to have, hehe)

    cooool. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Useful to me as an alien AND as a commander. (That scrolling map doesn't work as well as it could)

    Plans to make the rest?

    Did you use world craft to do the level? (sorry stahl for going abit off topic)
  • stahlstahl Join Date: 2002-11-03 Member: 5717Members
    And here's the <a href='http://www.lucidix.net/ns/bast.jpg' target='_blank'>Bast blueprint</a>.
  • stahlstahl Join Date: 2002-11-03 Member: 5717Members
    No, I haven't used Worldcraft in a while. I just downloaded it yesterday. Once I figured out that it's called Valve Hammer Editor now. But it locks my pc up for some reason.

    I'm using the minimap .spr files to create these maps along with some photoshop magic and a lot of ALT+TABing between the game and photoshop for all the text labels.

    Oh gosh, mapping goodness.
    I lerked ( <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> ) around for some overviews in the NS directory, but I found none.
    How are you making these?

    stahl, you should edit your first post to include links to all of your blue prints, for easy access.

    KungFu: the ambient noise inside the Triad Generator Array is <b>incredibly</b> loud! Now I suppose you meant to do that because a generator array sounds like a noisy place, but I have to turn the bass on my sub down to 0 to keep from shaking my apartment walls down in there. I really don't like your map because of that. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> Other than that, it's a very cool design. I've yet to win as the aliens on it though. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Damn. That was the intent of that area. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I'll tone down the volume for V2 if it is a problem, though. I have some aesthetic adjustments I want to make there anyway.
